How much oil do you consume?

So let's talk oil consumption now that the speeds are getting up there in mileage. Format your responses like this:

Car & Year:
Miles:
How much oil you burn:
Oil weight and type used:
Relevant modifications (PCV, turbo):
Compression (if you have it tested recently):
Source (if known - blowby, turbo, etc.):

Here's mine:

Car & Year: 2008.5 MS3
Miles: 23k
How much oil you burn: 1/2 quart in 3k miles
Oil weight and type used: PP 5w30
Relevant modifications (PCV, turbo, boost): Catch can, inline PCV, stock turbo, 18-19psi
Compression (if you have it tested recently): 185 across the board
Source (if known - blowby, turbo, etc.): Probably parts getting worn. I don't have any oil in the intake from blowby. Daily driven modereatly aggressive (I don't beat the shit out of it)

Lex 03-21-2011 02:27 PM

just out of curiosity lex, do you check when the car is cold (like after sitting overnight), or 10-15min right after you shut it down?

If the oil is warm (ie the car has been driven for a while) the oil should settle in the pan pretty quickly so the results should be similar between that and it sitting overnight from what I've seen.

One question I do have is how much oil is this beast supposed to hold anyway. I fail at searching and had the people ask the other day. Said the computer called for 6 quarts but it showed full on the stick at 5???

MSMS3 04-02-2011 07:58 PM

51,000 miles
less than 1/2 quart per oil change (3500-4000 miles)
Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30
mods in sig (boost is 19 psi w/ catless dp/rp and tune -- no smoking either)
compression not checked recently, but the car runs like a scalded dog
60-100 mph is 6.1 seconds.

From when I drove my car.

Compression (if you have it tested recently): 180+ all cylinders

Car: 2007 MS6

Compression: not sure
Source: I do get some oil in OCC but it's mostly water with some fuel.

I guess I'm the exception here.

Car & Year: 07 Speed3
Miles: 45000
How much oil you burn: 1qt/1000 miles
Oil weight and type used: Castrol Syntec 5w30 for the most part
Relevant modifications (PCV, turbo): Only intake
Compression (if you have it tested recently): N/A
Source (if known - blowby, turbo, etc.): Turbo I'm guessing? It does smoke but it's awful lot of oil.

TegRacer324 04-05-2011 11:10 AM

Not yet. Probably should. Still has engine warranty though so I've thought about bringing it in and letting them deal with it. I would guess they'll immediately go to the turbo replacement though.
