Is it really necessary for a HPFP with just CAI, TBE, TIP, and Cobb stage 2?

So yes it is necessary if you want your shit to work properly on COBB stage 2 (I.E. have enough fuel to not fuck your shit up) and not be neutered to 14 psi.

This took all of 2 minutes to locate...search moar/better.

Edit: Sorry this info is for Gen2 stuff, but it applies to Gen1 also.

I don't think you searched at all. Anyone who has removed a cat on a stage 2 tune (whether it be DP or TP) has done FP internals. Anyone that hasn't that is claiming their car to run fine is either bullshitting or waiting for some FAIL to occur. Just get the internals, don't ask about them. Just get, install, be done with it. You'll thank yourself later and prevent yourself from further FAIL threads like the one you started.

Personally I have the Mods listed below. Myself I would not go with a stage 2 without a HPFP upgrade. That is my next purchase then will move to a stage 2. I am already seeing 1600s for Fuel Pressure and on WOT I have seen it go to 1400s for a blink of an eye. I am taking it a little easier until I get the internals upgrade. If you want to kill your car, Skip the HPFP. If you want to do it correct and feel comfortable with driving your car like it was ment to be, do it right. Upgrade your FP.

Thanks for actually providing useful info... One thing this forum seriously lacks is actual data from mods. It's hard to see if a HPFP is really needed without data to look at. I'll be sure to get one then.

Take some logs, if FP drops below 1600ish psi you need internals. You don't HAVE to get internals. I ran mine, bolted minus fmic with a catless dp for over a year without internals. It is not recommended to follow my lead, but it is possible to do.

Having a TBE on your car means you have a turboback exhaust which means you no longer are running a stock downpipe. If this is the case your stock computer will already compromise for the added power by adding more fuel. So you need a AP to monitor your FP and obviously a FP for the added fuel.

heh, i've got the australia version
TMIC/SRI/DP/TIP
puts down 275hp and 310tq at the wheels on stock tune
fuel pressures are sitting ~1500-1600psi on 16psi of boost
in desperate need of a custom tune, but used to run hypertech @ 18-19psi with no fuelling issues
log your fuel pressures, if they're dropping, get a HPFP, if not, dont bother...

People are being dicks cuz you suck at reading comprehension. And threads like this will confuse more noobs causing more of these fail threads. There aren't mixed results. There are people that have hpfp internals with dp(95%) and there are people that don't(5%). Those who don't can possibly get away with it for a while, but need to monitor fuel pressure like a hawk. So they must constantly worry about fuel pressure. What fun is that? But for a little over $300 why wouldn't you buy that insurance for your car?

It's not that we are haters, it's that you are too damn lazy to do the research yourself.

If you researched like you say you have and found 'mixed results' in previous threads, then did you really think that starting another thread on the same topic would provide anything different.

Again, Laziness. Do your research and make a decsion. The outcome will look something like this:

Conservative - It would be safe to install a HPFP prior to a Stage 2 tune.
Moderate- I could advance my tune to Stage 2 and watch my fuel pressure, then determine if I need a HPFP.
Cavalier - Tune to Stage 2 and see what happens.
Lazy - Let me just ask MSF

Seriously, please don't waste our time or server space.

I'm running an older cobb stage 2 tune with sri, tip, and tp. On stock pump and never dropped below 1600 psi. I think its the full downpipe that usually puts it over the edge.

if you read the ap it says either one of the stock 2 cats can be removed or replaced with a high flow cat to run stage 2
