Default I hate 3rd Gear!

Does anyone have any tips or mod suggestions with a stock MS3 to reduce 2nd to 3rd misshifts? This happens to me occasionally under hard acceleration. I haven't had the car for long but 3rd seems to be so vague.

an aftermarket rmm will definately help with the problem but wont completely solve it. you will still miss sometimes but not as bad.

Main concern is comfort..... TRZ is stiff but it will add some vibes. Streetunit's is an awesome compromise of comfort and function. I've used most of them at some point...

Only one I have never ran is CPEs and theirs is supposed to be good as well...supposed to be a great compromise too. Streetunits is sorta on the pricier side and so is CPEs.

check out streetunit.com and see what they got. for what it's worth, i have the streetunit one

I was just looking at Streetunit and the reviews are pretty good. Sounds like a good investment.

Would stiffening up the bushings in the shifter make any difference?

I also have the street unit mount. It vibrates a little more at idle but nothing unmanageable. I actually like the vibes it makes the car feel meaner. It's a ten minute install once you get the car in the air.

Really? Cause after I replaced my Motor mount with the TRZ one I didnt really feel any difference in mis shifting in 3rd gear. Not until I removed the shifter weight did I stop missing 3rd gear. Every once in a while Ill miss but its far in between.

The Streetunit mount is two piece and a bit of a concern for me. Anyone hear of any problems in regards to this? Or maybe having to check it for proper tightness more often or something?

in my experience, i got rid of the misshifts by installing a short throw shifter. the RMM and tranny fluid made it smoother.

im too lazy to click "this", but id imagine its the ssp you sell, which does eliminate 3rd gear misses. I dont have a rmm either and I never miss 3rd anymore. I will also mention open palm shifting, which will reduce missing 3rd even with the stock shifter.

If you get a ssp, tune your shifter plz.

I would say in the meantime, just push straight up outa second gear, don't try to add the movement to the right...i know it sounds goofy as all get out, but it works. Was talked about pretty decently on my local clubs forums.

RMM + Shifter Bushings + JamieB STSP + E4 Shifter Knob = FTW!! NO Missed Shifts

All 4 of the mods seperatly are very nice, but when u use them together it really makes the car "feel" great. Shifts are smooth and tight, and u get great feel from the E4 shifter knob. Id reccomend this set-up to anybody

All 4 of the mods seperatly are very nice, but when u use them together it really makes the car "feel" great. Shifts are smooth and tight, and u get great feel from the E4 shifter knob. Id reccomend this set-up to anybody
+1. FTW!!!!

I occasionally go on dates with girls and am not sure they want to feel "one" with the car as well.... or maybe they do...

I do plan on doing shifter bushings for sure (those are more for me).

1) cp-e rear mm (best for no vibes)\
2) shifter bushings
3) synthetic tranny fluid with the ford friction modifier
4) trim 1/2 your bulky stock shifter weight off with hack saw (or get the cobb weight)
- call it a day

How hard is the TRZ to install? I don't have much for fancy tools and equipment.

And a frigging breaker bar!
One of my bolts was in there so tight, I semi rounded the fucker off.
I had to go to the store for a 6 point socket and hammer the fucker on the semi rounded bolt head and use my long ass torque wrench to get that sucker out.
I swear I almost gave up.

Ok... maybe I'm thinking about this too hard... I mean it sounds like ANY aftermarket performance motor mount will make a huge difference. After some research I'm torn between the TRZ and the CP-e.

Also, what bushing stiffness are you all using? I'm not afraid of a little feedback but I kinda want to know what I'm getting myself into.

Thanks!

I just bought a trz rmm. I am willing to deal with the extra vibs for the quality of the mount. Im not saying that cpe's is bad, just I have yet to hear about a trz failing. Really the only difference between the mounts is vibs, trz probably has the most because its the stiffest, which in turn holds the engine in place the best.

Did you get the polyurethane or derlin bushing?

I would think the CPE mount would transfer more vibrations since its CNC'd Aluminum and aluminum is more rigid than steel.

Or maybe, again, I'm thinking too hard and should just buy one and if i don't like it buy the other one.

derlin mount. IIRC the cp-e is not a dog bone style which adds to comfort. I cant speak about this car but in the past the dog bone style mm's have been much more rigid.
