Mine was $95 shipped. They are made to order. I got the Single Stage 2 OCC. You basically have to email the guy and tell him what you want. Then he'll shoot you an email back giving you his PayPal email address so you can place the order. Not as flashy as say... a GReddy can. But I think it has more function.

Curious, but do we need 5/8 or can we use 3/8?

We need 5/8" because our PCV fitting is 15mm. I think that translates to 3/8=9.5mm and the 5/8=15.875mm.

Hey PTP, I got another pic request. On the front of the block, there's a handful of bolts holding on the resevoir the PCV is attached to. Could you remove that case and take some pics of inside the block there and inside the resevoir? This would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1/2" fits better. I don't think it was 15mm but I will check again.

Trust me they don't care. I would bet that Mazda has already seen these and if and when it comes down to warranty work, they will simply state "abuse". They are way to large a company to worry about you and me. They skipped something when machining these motors and I wouldn't be suprised to see them coming brand new like this.

1/2" would be 12.7mm. But I was told 15mm. Hmmmm Too late now. Already ordered. Guess I'll find out. But looking at the PCV vavle from under the car, it's a very large hose. I actually think I can do this install without taking off the intake manifold. (Of course later on I'd like to take it off to clean out the gunk.) If you got the engine apart, please measure the PCV fitting.

minus how dirty that is they are exactly the same brand new. I've torn down atleast 4 brand new ones from Mazda and they all have the sharp edges at the casting and horrible amounts of crank walk.

Spec's on the crank for walk is crazy on these motors.

At least we don't have to really question "why" these motors are blowing left and right, sheesh................. and truth be told, we are the "little"people who can get a warranty denial on a 100% stock car. Mazda doesn't give 2 craps about you or me, as is the case with most companies. I have heard that getting warranty work done on an EVO is virtually impossible........

Mazda had a secret revision between the 07 and 08 engines to address the crank walk with a new set of washers. (on the cam/crank). I've been desperately trying to get the part #'s to post them for everyone doing a rebuild. Will do a full post when everything is up and ready.

um the brand new short/long blocks we have purchased from them and used ones don't have anything on them. they changed the washers on the cam and crank gears to keep them from jumping timing but that is all I have noticed different about them.

I think that the new part numbers are used for all the motors now. They don't have any old part numbers that I am aware of on these. If you do come up with something let me know, thanks for the info so far.

Any chance you've gotten around to these pics yet? I'm curious to see what kind of baffeling is in there.

Any idea on the vin#s and when/what month they started this change?

No idea on vin's or such. I just know Jay was talking about the later 08's getting it. He's hard to get a hold of now, with his new crazy job. He works till the early morning.

so people are building engines and they have bad crankwalk or? Not to farmiliar with crankwalk, but no its not a good thing. Did you use an indicator to see how much movement there was? A new block also has the same amount? Would you want GPG the the crank or something to fix it on on new build?
I repaired spindles as my last job but never built engine so trying to learn here.

thanks for all the pictures everyone. this really helps a n00b like me on the learning process. really also makes me want to get a cheap engine just to tear down and reassemble for the knowledge and experience.
