Cornerfreak - I don't know man. I drove this morning and I'm not sure what you're hearing. One thing you pointed out was that it's only after HARD driving. If something were wrong with your mount, it should be consistent IMO.

Darkstar! I need your help or maybe call folks at Medeival. Can you get me the dimensions of the inner sleeve(the one that's short-purposely of course). I want to try something on this mount when I modify it a bit. I need wall thickness and o.d/i.d. I'm gonna make this thing work for me before I throw it philly's face.

Contact Medieval directly, they have no problem send you a longer inner sleeve. But a longer sleeve will increase vibrations.

As a note to everyone who currently running the Medieval mount.

Medieval recommends everyone to tighten their mount down to 40ft/lb, and add a little bit of locktite to the bolts.

The short sleeve inside the bushing will allow some of the material to be smahsed down. This will not harm the mount

Hey Medieval,

Has there been a recent revision to the rear motormount or are the pictures on your website just different colored bushings with what looks like an extended sleeve in the middle of said bushing?

Yes, medieval has replace all their black bushings with the red dye bushings. And the rear mount will include a longer bolt sleeve

You will need to contact Medieval; sales@medievalllc.com

FYI the longer sleeves will increase vibration slightly, the shorter sleeve allows the bushings to absorb more vibrations.

Are all future mounts being shipped with the extended sleeve?

If medieval discovered something wrong with the old mount that warranted the extended sleeve, then I would like to replace the one that is sitting on my desk as a paperweight. Haven't had time to install it yet.

No, the longer sleeve is just available for those who might want it. The mount you current have on you desk is fine, and actaually provide less vibrations than a mount with a longer sleeve

Sorry guys for the lack of forum presents. I tell everyone to email me as that is the quickest way to get an answer. Sales@medievalllc.com

Right now we are waiting on approval for a forum rep. Once this comes into affect we will have a forum rep here to answer questions. If you want direct contact with me, please email me.
We stand behind out products so if you want a longer sleeve or want the red bushings we use now, send me an email with your name, address and what you want and it will ship in the mail. As for the new bushing, its just a color change. We are using the same material and same durameter.

Installed the mount today. It's miles better than the corksport inserts. Yes, there are vibes but they are unlike the inserts. I couldn't launch the car at low rpms during daily driving with inserts. With this mount, vibrations are there but the car takes off w/o trying to stall.

Heel toe downshifts are buttery smooth, much less engine movement and weight shifting.

I torqued it a bit more than 40ft-lbs, probably around 60.

I am the kind of person that likes a smooth daily drive on soft tires and the vibrations are at a perfect level.

I just did the Medeival RMM as well. The improved shifter and clutch control was well worth it. The vibes are noticeable mostly starting in first or engine braking in third/fourth, but should settle down some with time. It's really nice to have the clutch feeling better, more linear than it ever has and be confident in the shifter.

So far, great.

I wrote to the SCCA advisory council a few weeks ago to get this mount approved for Street Touring class. It's legal now. Free ad ftw?

http://www.scca.com/documents/Fastra...k-may-solo.pdf

"4) Street Touring: The STAC has considered information regarding particular aftermarket motor mounts in Street Touring and has determined that a mount/bracket combination which has a single part number and contains no more metal than the standard part (for example, the Medieval Motorsports Mazdaspeed 3 rear motor mount) does meet the requirements of the allowance in 14.10.J regarding metal content. The restriction in the allowance limits metal content to no more than stock by volume. Such a mount which clearly has less metal meets the rules on that point. There is no restriction on mass of the part. Note that any replacement part must also mount in the factory location and not relocate the motor. (ref. 09-117)"

Just installed mine yesterday. The only problem I had was while hitting it with a rubber mallet to get it in, the one mounting bracket on the dogbone snapped off. It wasn't an issue as we just cleaned it up, re-welded it on the in and out (both sides), and installed it. It was a bitch getting it on, but it was well worth it.
It makes it easier also if you remove the mounts, mount. This way you can slide the dogbone straight back in and then line everything back up again.

I haven't noticed a a lot of vibes at all, minor, but nothing major, only really at idle.
During normal driving, no vibes, but shifting up & down, everything is much improved, including the 1-2 & 2-3 shifts.

If you have anything Medieval on your car, take it off ASAP!
That $hit will fail!
Not going to get in to it but do your research and be very careful if you have something of Medieval on your car.

In all honesty, the TRZ rear mount wasn't bad at all. I'm considering moving on to the TRZ Delrin mount now that I've tried the poly, which was HARDLY a noticeable change in idle.

Any noticable performance difference between the trz poly and the medeval mm?

There was no difference that I could give a reasonable, quantifyable number. Medieval's is cheaper, so you could get the same effect for less. The only thing to question now is the longevity of the Medieval's motormount.

What bad can happen if not tightened down to 40ft/lb? I dont have the tools right now to change anything. Everything seems to feel and work fine though so far. Pretty happy with this mount.

Nothing will happen. We recommend going to 40ft lbs because we use to leave a small space between the center pin and bushing face. People would become worried when the bushing would load and move some. We no longer do that and now use a longer pin.

I've had my Medieval Rear Mount in for about 2 weeks and probably 600-700 miles city/highway/mountain bomb runs. I am getting a little squeek at start up and when I take off from a stop.

Of more concern is that I'm getting a loud rattle from underneath the car at certain times on idle while sitting at a light or just parking the car. This isn't like cabin vibes, it's a loud stacato noise almost like an air wrench ratchet sound. Seems to be more likely to occur if it's cooler in the evenings (45-50 degrees) and it's been a longer drive 45 minutes to an hour. It seems to be increasing in both volume and regularity, which concerns me. I can make the noise disappear bumping the idle from ~750 to ~1000 RPMs with the throttle.

When we installed it, we torqued it to 60 ft/lbs and used lock-tite.

When I first heard the rattle (about a week ago), I got it up on ramps the next day and checked the bolts and they seem fine. But at that time, I couldn't get it to make the noise, so I couldn't isolate the source.

Is this something that should just go away with time or should I try to reset the upright bolt or something?

Thanks for any suggestions. I don't mind letting it settle in, but I can't have my new car sounding like an old time gatling gun .

If the sound goes away when you depress the clutch, I think that might be normal. I'm not sure if it's a "gattling gun" sound, but I (think) have something alot less blown out of proportion than that.

Once the idle settles and the rattle starts, clutching in or out does not effect it. It's obviously not a machine gun sound, but it's loud enough to be unacceptable for the long term.
