ITV24's colder than ITV22's?? So I called Streetunit to see if they had any ITV22 sparks in stock because im now running a stage 2 tune with a TBE. I already have ITV24's in the car that have about 10k miles on them. However, one of the guys at SU (can't remember his name) said that the ITV24's are actually colder than the 22's and would work better with a stage 2 tune. I wasn't sure if I should take his word for it or not. Let me know what you think. |
yes, they're colder (24 > 22), but you're fine w/ 22s. |

half of 4 is two making it two steps colder |
i would say 24's are too cold, but if you're having luck with them that's what really matters. |
Just remember the general rule of thumb for proper spark plug heat ranges: "Run the hottest plugs that you can without provoking KR." So- If you can run stock plugs without KR, then do so. Otherwise, if you can run ITV22's without KR, then do so. Otherwise, if you can run ITV24's without KR, then do so. Your sig says that you have an AP, so set it to monitor KR as you fuss with the plugs, and you'll quickly learn what the optimum plug is for your vehicle's condition and your driving style. |
^^^ This is the correct answer. Plugs go Stock 22 24 27 I can almost guarantee that your plugs are too cold and they are building carbon. |
Maybe this will help. Chart in link below. As said before run hottest that does not produce KR, or coldest that does not carbon foul. That should end up being the same heat range and probably will either be stock or only one single heat range colder. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...51/#post670251 |
