JBR Heavy Shift Knobs Back In Stock!!

Weighing in at a blistering 650 grams (compared to the stock 265 grams for the speed3 and speed6), this heavy Shift Knob allows for smooth shifts by putting the weight at the end of the shift lever. This gives you greater mechanical advantage and lets the stick glide into gear. Powder coated in Wrinkle Black for superior grip this is a must for any enthusiast.

2 Color Combinations!!

gr8fasushi 11-29-2010 09:53 PM

I placed my order late friday night. Jamie shipped it Saturday morning. I received the package Monday.....WOW! From Illinois to Utah in one business day. Rockin!

ms3brendan 11-29-2010 09:56 PM

Holy shit these are sexy. Definitely considering asking the girlfriend for this for Christmas.

meeker13 11-29-2010 09:57 PM

Nice knob! haha
Can I send u back the polished one I got with my ssp for trade...since mine was black when I got it and a week later all the "powdercoating" came off.
Just joking! Very nice work Jamie.

Albertogti117 11-30-2010 12:25 AM

Any chance you have any of these in a brushed or polished metal finish?

I'm looking in to a very cool chrome powder coat, maybe stainless down the road.

Thanks,
Jamie

ScarMS3 12-04-2010 09:52 AM

Ordered one today and looking forward to getting it. Murray Christmas tah me

6262ms3 12-04-2010 01:46 PM

Those look awesome! Any chance of a leather version down the road? Metal shift-knobs are a total bummer in the winter. lol I bet I'm the only person who wants one so the answer is probably "no".

I would be interested in one as well - I was looking to get my e4 knob machined and wrapped a la the s2000 leather wrapped knob. I'd still like to, I just don't want to pay a machine shop and an upholstery company to get it done.

If jamie offered a knob with a leather wrap on the middle, I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

ScarMS3 12-04-2010 04:26 PM

are gloves still for pussies? I love wearing gloves during the winter when driving, guess I should get a kanga hat, ascot, and some goggles and make it for real

Speed3eak 12-04-2010 04:42 PM

Yeah, but I'm mainly concerned with leaving the car in the sun - when I was in Miami over the summer, I had to grip the shifter by the boot to shift because the knob was hot enough to cook eggs. And gloves aren't exactly summer apparel.

JBR 12-04-2010 06:23 PM

I don't know if I'll ever do leather. I'm sure it would be a hit if I did. When things settle down a bit I'll see if I can't find out how to get them done.

Thanks,
Jamie

WOW, want one on those and will be ordering soon!

tbot 12-07-2010 04:28 PM

Damn those look good! At first I thought it was just a foam cushy wrap thing around the knob before I read it was wrinkle powder coat. I'm impressed!

+1 for the leather wrapped option.

I've had other metal replacement knobs over the years, smooth and wrinkle finish and they all were a pain when it was cold or hot.

Speedn3 12-30-2010 11:41 PM

nice knobs...payment sent for blk w/red pattern.

asall667 01-01-2011 05:03 PM

just ordered one of these (balck w/ red pattern) and the SSP...cant wait, I have yet to hear anything negative about jbarone products...DEF A WINNER!!!

char181 01-01-2011 05:24 PM

Got the black with red shift pattern about three weeks ago. Outstanding product. The red pattern insert picks up the red stitching in the shifter boot nicely. I have some thin black leather and am toying with the idea of making a leather cylinder stitched in red to slip over the flat surface of the shifter for the winter. Just a thought. Keep up the good work Jamie.

definitely going to pick one of these up after im done with my suspension!

Scynfewl 01-14-2011 12:47 AM

Yes Yes YES! Previous owner of my second 2007 MS3 must have carried bolts in his hand while shifting. The stock knob is scratched pretty badly. Never scratched my first one...?

These look awesome. I can't wait to get one!

zumanback 01-14-2011 01:15 AM

Can u believe how fast JBarone ships?

Check it out. The last two Jbarone items i bought, the engine dress kit and the shift wieght, arrived at my house in < than two days. As hard as we work for our $moneys$ nowadays, its nice to know that someone or a company cares about customer service. I ordered the Super -Heavy shift knob today at 2 pm: Its already in the mail....Good job Jbarone.:arms:

Also, threw some donation cheese to the forum considering how much $ i save here!

Email me a picture of the bottom of your shift knob to jamesbaroneracing@gmail.com

All knobs are shipped with the adapter. Are you sure you didn't just spin it on and run the adapter down in to the knob?

Thanks,
Jamie

bohica17 01-19-2011 06:03 AM

Ordered mine last night, around idk 5 I was at the gym for maybe 30 minutes and got a email on my phone saying it shipped. Pretty excited for all the stuff to get here.

Yes i did check the install instructions- even before i received the knob- I will use the terminology described in the instructions to clarify my Question.

Is the shift Knob supposed to arrive with an aluminum shift adaptor-? I did receive the jam nut
(which is clearly shown in the 1st install picture), but not the aluminum shift adaptor.

ngconquest 02-16-2011 09:13 PM

Got mine install today. I always thought shift knobs were mainly for ricers that wanted to mach their bright orange shift knob with their bright orange interior. This things really got some function, as shifting now is so ridiculously effortless an infant could do it. Well made product, thanks!

I agree one hundred percent man, shifting this thing is effortless now and I definitely feel like my driving has improved.

Jamie,

How is the finish on these, as far as temperature wise, when it gets extremely hot or cold? I live in Las Vegas, so if I have to park in the sun on a 120 degree day (thankfully I usually don't) I dont want to have to put a sock on my shifter. The stock aluminum shift knob in my 06 evo was horrible for this. Also interested in purchasing the shift plate, shifter bushing, knob combo, so please let me know so I can get this ordered. Thanks.

I live in vegas as well, and I have one of JBR's shift knobs. I got the black with red pattern (as my post says) and the cold isn't really bothersome. The heat on the other hand can warm the knob up (since it is black...) There was a fairly hot day not too long ago (was it 2-3 days ago?) that it was close to 80 degrees. The knob was warm, but not scalding (it was sitting in the sun all day). Have yet to experience the 120 degree weather, and will post updates (or you can pm me) on when it gets hotter....that is if you can wait that long lol.

In 120 degree sun the knob is gonna get hot. Here in IL when it gets up around a 100 I use a sun shade in the car and the knob gets warm but not scalding.

PM's with combo details.

Jamie

This is probably going to a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway because I'm interested in the knob. (There's almost nothing I won't do to improve shifting on this otherwise fun car.)

Weighing in at ~3x more, will the heavier knob place extra stress on the entire shifting assembly of the car? Surely, a few hundred grams doesn't sound like much, but if it's few hundred grams above the threshold of the stock assembly, I'd be concerned.

Thanks!

No extra stress just buttery shifting.
