maybe they should figure out how to break in the internals BEFORE they send them out promising OODLES AND OODLES of extra fuel pressure

I find it funny that out of all the pumps PTP has sold, you get a couple people who have problems and all the sudden his product is shit? LOL.

i never called the product "shit" ...the product worked great till it started sticking... as far as calling them, i will tomorrow on my break i was too busy today.

I've bashed John at PTP in the past, but I'm done with that shit. BUT, i can say that there have been too many pump "failures" or "seizes" for me, if I were in the market for one. The idea of 'breaking in' a fuel pump doesn't really make sense to me, especially since it was not required on any of the kits that have been offered up to this point.

I know it was stated in the thread that this break in procedure was needed because of the way that John manufactured these, which is fine. BUT, I think you guys are fucking crazy for driving around the block at 5,000rpm hitting fuel pressures of 50psi, that is just not normal and could be very costly.

for what it's worth, i drove around with 50psi for a few weeks.
when you get to 50psi, your high pressure fuel pump is seized. 50 psi is what the in-tank pump is doing.
the one in the engine bay isn't doing shit.
for those of you that see this blip of 50psi for a second or two, that's "normal" in john's eyes.
you didn't break them in properly.
or whatever.
and whatever.
50psi of fuel sucks.

oh i couldnt imagine driving around for more than a split second at 50psi...im experiencing blips...

their break in procedure is pretty damn vague on the instructions as well. If i did something wrong by not doing the 1g-5g ricer drive for the first 100 i want to know. EAZY, how EXACTLY did you "break it in"?

Im on my second PUMP, i wish my car wasnt 1300 miles away.

I honestly want my money back, i can understand the first pump had an issue. But the second preassembled pump too thats BS...

but i suppose you get what you pay for, you live and learn.

i want to know if im wasting my time trying to break this pump in because my gt3076 should be here oh in about 2 weeks...and i dont want this thing siezing up when i am at WOT

your right its not a cheap part but when compaired to CPE its "reasonably priced".

I buy a cpe and out of the box i can go WOT all i want.

i dont think ptp s product is shit at all, so far the greater percentage of the customers rave about them so obviously its a good product.

i think the part that might irritate some customers is that failures get always attributed to user error or "you must have done something wrong".....

i mean shit man, we know that a small % age of the pumps ANYONE MAKES will take a shit, lets be hobnest about it and just say "well, sorry u got the bad one , let me take care of that for u "

I also agree with Lenny, but I still think somethings wrong here..

To me, in comparison to everything else, the Cp-e pump is worth it. It's expensive but in comparison to the other options on the market right now it's not a bad option.

By the way, I emailed Jon (Mrlilguy) and told him to make his pumps again a few weeks ago hahah.. I don't think that's going to happen..

reading this thread reminds me of exactly what those cdi internals did on my car, would run fine for a while, then cut real bad, then be fine, then cut........etc etc. After so long those cuts became more and more frequent and then they took a shit. Id say take the ptp ones out and get a new set.

Haha mee too, I've had the mrlilguy pump for like 2 years now and no problems what-so-ever. Still see 1700psi at very light throttle and over 2,000psi at wot. No "break in" shit either

so i talked to john, after it happend again, while actually putting some load on the motor, he told me to go ahead and send them in and he will send me a new one out. Apparently there was one other failed set out of this batch he said.

Im actually sending my stock pump in to get internals put in because the pre assembled pump i bought has a broken electrical connection, and also some gashes and some hammer marks (see sig) he told me 2 weeks before he gets them in (last week).

I get to do another install AND break in. FML

Too bad mazda isn't in the HP CDFP biz, there pumps seem to work ok for what they were designed for. I dread the day (probably pretty fucking soon too) that I gotta do this mod. Shouldn't have to keep your fingers crossed, ESPECIALLY with a fucking fuel pump; I mean as much as engines like air, I think a lil fuel puts a smile on their face also.... Good luck OP

I really think that their internals would be a lot better if they made some type of rig to break them in prior to them shipping. It probably wouldnt be too hard to do and would save their customers some piece of mind and a LOT of time.
