(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score The stock one is such a POS. It was literally dangling off the turbo and took little to no force to pull it loose. I must have had pretty bad boost leaks. Drove it around after the install and it felt nice. Turbo responds faster and feels less restrictive when accelerating than the stock. However, I do not like the way that it sounds when I shift. I do not know if anyone else had this, but it now sound like my car is sneezing/wheezing when I shift. Anyone else experience this? Also, I am currently running VTA from my HKS. I want to change to recirc so I don't have to block off the inlet bypass reducer (i think this is the only way I could do that, correct me if I am screwing something up). Anyone know how to do this w/ my HKS? Are there any threads out there that show some options? I am assuming I will have to get a pipe made for it. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've been contemplating buying one for a while. How much quicker does the turbo spool? Is the difference that noticeable? Lastly, how much louder is it than the stock with the SRI?

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I have an AEM CAI. I don't really notice the loudness except when shifting like mentioning. I don't really like the sound ha. You can defn notice the spooling difference, but that may also attribute to my stock one practically falling off. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm interested in getting one of these at CP-e because they still have the 20% coupon going on right now. I've heard about the weird noise at shifting I wonder if its because its mostly silicon tubing. So my thought is would an aluminium TIP not make this same sound or would it be less pronounced. I don't think that would bother me but who knows. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score There is a fitting for the HKS to be recirculated. You'll have to buy their hose, however, for it to be. Or make your own if you can. I have the cp-e SRI, TIP and HKS and have no noise you're referring to. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score HKS SSQV 29mm Recirculation Fitting That's the fitting you need for the stock recirc tube I believe. Also, if I am not mistaken, unless you're running a tune, VTA is making your car run richer. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I am have an aluminum one, made by RPMC, and I like it. Spool was noticeably quicker, and combined with the SRI, lots of turbo noise in the cabin....which I personally really dig.

| Not Ranked : 0 score VTA on a MAF sensor controlled car produces a lot of problems, only one of which is running rich. AfR's go all over the place and the ECU is constantly chasing and trying to correct the mismatch between the fuel it thinks it needs and is shooting into the engine through the injectors and the missing air farted to atmosphere. No tune, not Hypertech, not AP, not Standback, nothing is going to correct the mismatch. Recirc is the solution. What happens in the ECU, whether stock or tuned, is that the ECU eventually detunes the engine slightly to try to "average" the mismatch between air and fuel. That means a loss in power. BTW: Let's not get off topic about tunes, but Hypertech has proven to be an extremely effective tune for me with my mods. It absolutely cured my boost spikes I was getting from running my catless dp/rp. It raised load limits so I can run 18-19 psi under load even in winter without load cut, it eliminated the power restrictions in first and second gear. It has calibrated my MAF correctly. It allows continued power above 6,000 rpm while, keeping it safe by gradually dialing back boost when rpm's climb past 6,000. But power past 6,000 on the stock K04 is not recommended on any tune. It's just there in the event you need to hold a gear a bit longer for some particular reason. No HT tuned cars are boing zoom, zoom, boom to my knowledge. It is extremely mod friendly. Can you make a LITTLE more power with other tunes? Yes. Can you maximize power on those other tunes and stay safe? Maybe or maybe not.

| Not Ranked : 0 score damn, i am so jealous y'all have shops near you. i have to do all my ordering over the interweb.... as for heat soak w/ an aluminum tip.. it doesn't really make much of a difference at all. when i bought my tip i was worried about heat soak and i spoke with pg ken. he said they ran bat tests with silcone and aluminum tips and there was no significant difference..

| Not Ranked : 0 score that would be a nice thing to have. i don't really plan on major mods, it would just be nice to see and handle the parts and ask questions in real time... ah well. probably better for the 'ol bank account this way.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I just switched from and aluminum PG inlet to the cobb silicone unit, and i notice a huge difference in sound. Its certainly quieter and almost muffled sounding. Where the aluminum pipe gives a nice sharp, pronounced sound. A little disappointing really. Since i run the stock valve, i dont get much blow off noise. On the heat soak issue. I don't think it matters much which kind of TIP you run. Its the Intercoolers primary function to cool the inlet temps. I can't imagine a few degrees diffence before the intercooler matters much at all. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So i bought and installed the recirculation kit for my HKS. The install was a pain in the ass (probably b/c I have no instructions with my HKS and I took it completely apart, then found out that you can spin it from its orig position haha). Car is sooo much smoother now. Drives totally different. I am sad about losing the sound haha.... flame me all you want. Then again I am 23 and it is time to turn another page. I wish there was some blow off sound but o well. I'd rather have my car run correctly.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I have an aem cai so I can hear the turbo spool real loud. reason why it was a bitch is that I had to take the intake out and I had no clue what I was doing with the HKS ha.

| Not Ranked : 0 score You will only hear it if you're in boost. And it's one tube! Take off the cover on the valve, insert fitting, replace cover, attach hose to TIP and valve, secure with clamps. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score That is good to know about the aluminum TIP will be louder than the silicone one from Cobb and others... Def dont need the cabin to be louder but the performance gains do outweigh that tho. Hmm more saving now for the Cobb one over the CS one I had planned. Any pics of the install?

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I did not initially have the fitting previously installed on the HKS. So I fumbled with that for a while because I didn't have any instructions on how to get the fin out. Then it was facing the wrong way and I didn't realize it could just be spun so I took it completely apart to make it face the other way b/c I couldn't get to the mounting screws. I found out you could just spin it after the fact... doh. The connecting part was easy no problems there. So no the install would have been cake if I knew what I was doing
