Knock Knock.... GO AWAY!!!! 2 Attachment(s) So I have been trying to get my 07 MS3 all set to start tuning away. I have been told that I need to try and get rid of my knock before I should really go any further. Before anybody starts bashing the fact that I am trying to do this with a standback and dashhawk I really don't want to hear that cp-e sucks and that I would solve all my problems by going with an AP. I am here to resolve my knock problem. I have changed my plugs and regapped them and also installed injector seals but still get the same KR of .4-2.5 between 4700-5800 RPM when at WOT. I really am looking for help and I don't want to sound like a dick but I get tired of reading through some of these threads where the OP starts to get bashed because he/she doesn't know about something or because of mod choices that they made. I have what I have and I have done it all myself. I have read a lot and searched a lot and cant find anything that looks like my situation (not saying that there isn't one out there). So take a look at my DH logs if would like and let me know what you think about the KR. |
maybe the Stand back is where you fail begins. get an AP ha |
Pull timing. Wait. You can't do that with a sb can you?? Put a few gallons of e85 in per tank as an octane booster. |
well the only thing left to do is tune it away with an ap in atr but you cant so ur fucked |

And then there were 3. Since when can't you pull timing with the standback? |
You ask for help, we tell you the straight faced truth, and you throw a hissy fit?? Methinks OP is secretly ashamed that he bought a standback and now has to maintain a big dick ego so he doesn't seem like a dumbass. |
Wrong you need a hypertech!!!!! Anyways I was having problems with knock as well. Gapped down my plugs to .30 and mixed some 100 octane with 91. help alot with my knock! |
Not that I know much, but could your knock be from having all those upgrades, no meth or upgraded i/c, being in Las Vegas in summer, and no tune? |
Hissy fit? Apparently you don't have children. I have been thinking of switching to the AP but that would mean being without my car for a week while I send my ECU back to cp-e to get flash removed. Ashamed? NO! A little disheartened? Absolutely! I mean I was figuring that I would get absolute crap in this thread but the first three replies. What I am really ashamed of is expecting more from the members of this forum. I really did think 240mazspd3 was just trying to be funny. BIg dick ego? Not really. Big Dick down stairs? ABSOLUTELY! Thats what I made those hissy fitting children with. Quote:
A couple weeks ago I might have agreed though. 114 ambient. It sucked. |
I don't think the first three replies were anything but realistic, but I digress. And the e85 comment was completely serious. It would help quell the knock without having to send your shit back to cpe |

Have you already try upping your octane? |
can you send me your logs? I'll take a look at them and see what i can come up with. I'm in vegas too, so I know your pain. |

We told you how without an ap, by either adding e85 or some other way of upping octane or if you can pull timing do that |

its all been said. get an ap, check the gap on your plugs and if that doesnt work, run an e85 mix. and if you still have KR, youre shit is going to blow. end thread |
The E-85 suggestions are spot on, but you may want to run about 3 gallons per full tank to avoid afr and / or fuel system issues. I understand your apprehension to move to the AP, and the time your car will be down while you are reflashed, but Cobb may be able to revert your ecu back to stock also (I'm not sure of this). Best of luck. |
So I did as a lot of you suggested and added 3 gallons of E85 to my tank and then filled it up with 91. Made a few pulls and never saw KR above 0.7. Will try some more tomorrow to see if it holds. I wish we had 93 here in Vegas |
