KR @ 70mph light load Ive searched and read a few other threads speaking exactly about this and most say its nothing to worry about but seeing as how i drive about 50 miles a day at around that speed on the highway i figured id throw my numbers out there since they worry me. I get constant readings of 7.00-8.00 KR. It'll just constantly dance around those two points until i let off the gas completely. I know real knock will peak and then slowly decrease till it zero's out. This shows no sign of dropping unless i change my driving. I know most people say part throttle knock is nothing to worry about but i couldn't help but be concerned with such high KR. WOT logs show either no knock or only .7-1.5 Nothing too serious. As of right now I'm currently running a OTS map that i would have assumed would be putting me more so on the safe side of things rather than border on power. VVT does need replacing but would that alone cause all that KR? |
Same issue. My research concluded that PT KR is nothing to worry about. Turbo spool, noisy engine bay, ecu readjusting fuel trims, ect. cause PT KR. I've also noticed turning off DSC/TCS/SWAS helps lower PT knock as timing isn't pulled by the ecu (that has been my experience, idk if it has anything to do with tbh.) Let me be clear though, I'm no expert. I'm sure someone will chime in that has way more knowledge and experience than I do with all of this. I just stopped worrying about it and enjoy driving my car. Now if I could only figure out what that damn popping in my suspension was!!! |
Have you read this yet? kr-explained If not, then it's a good thing to read. Since you say your WOT logs have no KR, then I think you are good to go. |
I just learned about this myself, if you read the ATR helpfile the reason for PT KT is in there. Something about fuel trims while in light load. I forget what page its on but the file is only 86 pages. have fun. LOL |
WOW constant 7-8 part throttle KR? that is high, again no expert here..... Do you have Gen Won? |
Its a genwon if i apply a little more then light throttle KR goes away. Let off the pedal conpletely and its gone. I read some but like you said, that many pages and i can concentrate for that long. Lol. |
