MODE RACING Exhaust Hangers Installed

Finally got around doing this, been sitting in the garage for awhile now. I was changing my oil and decied to put them in. Thanks to RallySport Direct!
Someone mentioned to remove the CBE to make it easier to install, but I didn't want to do all that extra work lol. :09:
They give you 6 of them, but only need 5. HAve some WD-40 around it will help out alot. These are way stiffer than stock, makes it harder to line up the holes lol.

On the test pipe hangers, they easily come off with a pair of channel locks. IF you have an exhaust hanger hook tool, it will be alot easier.

Now for the CBE front. You can use a big flat tip screw driver and pry the bottom toward the pasenger side while pulling the CBE toward the driver side. Reverse that to put it back on.

Axle and rear hangers are little different, axle one being the hardest to manuver around with the CBE still in place. Used channel locks on both. You will have to bend the heat shielding out of the way to get to it on the axle hanger. My rear hanger has the Racing Beat anti-swing cup on it, hence the Racing Beat CBE lol.

These last two hangers also require twisting to remove and also for installing them. Channel locks or a screw driver, depending on room. Basically a 90 degree turn.

On the axle hanger, since there is little to no room for a short screw driver or the channel locks. I opted to use a rachet with a short extension to get the leverage with little room and works perfect. :approve: MAke sure you use the WD-40 in all the holes and slide notches.

All the anti-swing cup and heat shields back in place, make sure you clean your CBE off. All the WD-40 and hand/finger prints need to be off before starting the car, unless you like it to be burnt on lol. ENJOY! :birthday:

looks good. i had no idea they made a tool to get hangers off...nice.

so impressions after install?

Sacrilicious 08-31-2009 08:38 AM

my impressions are that ALL the thumping from my CBE are completely gone. the tailpipe used to have some give and swing to them, but that's very nicely dialed in now. i freakin love these things...:D

...installing them kinda sucked, though...they're a lot tighter and harder to flex than the stock rubber ones...=/

Umm, no offense but, why? The stock rubber mounts seem to hold my exhaust up without difficulty...I've never seen anyone poly-bush an exhaust hanger. If things were banging I'd suspect an installation error with the exhaust.

some aftermarket CBEs have pretty tight clearances on some of the turns. our stock hangers SHOULD be just fine, but as they heat up, they start wobbling more and more and then you start thumping the pipe into the rear subframe because of it. it's not an installation error, because it's not very complicated, and there's really only one way for it to fit in there. it's just that the stock hangers weren't made to deal with fatter pipes that have tighter clearances on some of the bends.

Got it, thanks for the insight....

yes, i butt dyno'd at least 10-15whp more because of reduced air turbulence. i also find that i stick better on hard cornering because the reduced wobble helps to maintain my center of balance...=d

I haven't noticed anything different, probably cuz my setup was already tight. Racing Beat did a GREAT job in making the CBE for the MS3.
Mode is just insurance for me lol.

lol...i actually tried to call up racing beat and buy one of those exhaust hanger support brackets that they include with the CBE because it's a great idea and should probably have helped my thumping. unfortunately, they don't really have those sitting around without the CBEs...=/
