My 2nd motor doesnt have PT knock lol Yea...so I got my new (used 18k) motor in the car...and funny thing is...is I dont get any PT knock. With my old motor...I could get PT knock of .3 or .7 every minute or so while driving around the city. With my new one...Ill MAYBE get a tiny spirt of .3 once every 30 minutes of city driving. Only changes is I now have a catless downpipe...and Im running v105 AP. But the ignition timing, CL AFRs, and MAF scale is the EXACT same as the map I used with the old motor I just find it funny how one motor acts one way...and another motor acts different....even though they are the same lol |
COOL STORY BRO |
i get so much kr its stupid... that is all |
Never got part throttle KR. Many things can be at work here. |
i realize that many things can be at work...but from when I just had a intake and AP...all the way up to fully bolted and like 50 maps later...I ALWAYS got PT knock. Now...nothing lol |
Give it a couple thousand miles, the part throttle KR will return. I'm speaking from experience. Are people with catch cans installed getting any part throttle KR readings? |
i have a catch can for past 20k, i knock daily. I have the ptp magic piece of aluminum, i knock daily. |
yo really what the fuck should I do? the PTP magic aluminium mesh was meant to be used with SRI's and not CAI's I got the mesh thinking it works for CAI's as well but now I realize the mesh must be like 3 to 5 inchs before the MAF sensor and how the fuck am I to super glue the mesh 1 and anhalf feet deep into a pipe...LOL should I cut my cai pip 7 inchs before the MAF and then weld it back on? LOL right like i'll do that..so what the fuck now...I know I can;'t just put the mesh right after my intake filter like that will do anything. |
Damn, I was hoping a catch can would at least reduce part throttle KR. After I had my new block installed I had 0 KR for a while. I thought the gods were finally smiling upon me, but the KR slowly came back and now I get up to 5.9 KR, but it happens only when I lift off the throttle before a shift and when in low boost. If I gun it through the gears I get no KR. I have a small amount of oil in my intake now, so I was thinking that was lowering the octane a bit and the ECU was adjusting for this. Who knows? But why my new block for the first couple k miles had no part throttle KR is a mystery to me. BTW, I'm totally stock for the winter :greddy2: and run a CAI in the warmer months. |
i have yet to ever see PT knock. |

I drive 120 miles daily for work commute and ever since the temps started getting colder I get loads of part throttle knock doing 80 mph. Anywhere from 2-5 counts of kr at 30-50% abs load. The interesting thing is that when I see kr I don't lift completely off the throttle. I lift just a tad and it goes away, yet less throttle equals MORE timing advance.... |
i never see KR!!!!! no dashhawk FTW! |

What is this PT or Kr knock you guys speak of ?? Over here in Jersey they have 87 , 89 , 92 or 93 octane, I always run the 93. Describe the sound, is it like detonation ( A can of bolts rattling around) Is it a sound that is hard to hear or is it apparant!!! PT does that = Part Throttle and what's the KR stand for... what type of mods promote these sounds. Just wondering!!! |
i see a bit of pt knock occasionally but I have never heard it, the only way I even know I have it is because of the DashHawk. |
PT = part throttle KR= knock part throttle is when your not full throttle, when ur accelerator pedle is pressed half way down ur concidered part throttle. Knock is preignition. thats when ur gas burns before the spark ignights it. when ur piston is traveling up and it ignights the fuel the explosion of gas pressure wants to pust the piston down when it wants to go up. It actually makes a audable knock sound. its very bad for the motor and causes blown engines |
