Hole in the block? Was this already answered? Where am I? |
Don't know yet, but all that metal came from somewhere and the oil pan looks intact so I am assuming it is somewhere low on the front of the car. I'll tear it down Wednesday and let you know. I gotta find out if the head and crank are use able. |

I keep watching that video, not for the Spotlight scene, but I could listen to that exhaust and engine note for hours. Sorry to hear about your rod taking a permanent vacation, BUT now holds a great opportunity to build a good bottom end to handle some awesome numbers. |
Thanks man, that exhaust sound was one of my favorites. I was trying to get a video of it because I never get to hear it from outside the car. I did get the video at least before I activated smoke screen to escape. |
I know what you mean. I loaned my speed to a buddy of mine a few months back, and as he drove off, It just made me smile at how awesome the car sounds. Been meaning to get a friend of mine to drive off in my 323 turbo to hear what it sounds like from a different perspective. |

Now you're asking us what you thought. I don't get it. |
Classic. An Absolute Classic. I wish you well in your recovery. Hope it all works out for the better! |
mrbojangles...this is AXIS from wistreetandtrack.com.....send me a PM |
So for those of you saying maybe he had too much boost for cold temps, where would you say is too high for winter? I'm new to places with extremely cold weather. I'd like to know for next year. I have my other MS3 that is going to stay stock and will be my daily driver during the winter. But I'm mainly asking so I don't risk it. I think I'll be around 19 psi or so for the next year but I would like to know just in case. |
Was this a boost or load based tune? |
awesome bro. it looked like a rod that i saw fly out..... epic vid |
hell of a way to break in the camera still awesome! build it and get one of these bw full race kits when they do them.... |
I watched this video over n over n over.....i love the sound amazing video without the boom. unfortuently. Buh it does happen and you werent monitoring. I always monitor afr's during wot n such. And always make sure the car is properly warmed up. considering your climate. also, i kno in my car, between shifts im a bit rich, i kno my bov is vta, so probably being why, buh even if so, i didnt see any amount of exhaust smoke coming from the tail pipe. at a 11.7 afr with DI you will defiently see smoke. so i think a lean condition, so if lean, then u probably was knockin. yikes.BUILD! |
that video's gonna have a million views by friday......... ............ ................................... cause i keep hitting replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay and replay |
sad to hear man, but glad you are in good spirits about it. go BT and never look back i suppose this is one situation where i can post a Ke$ha video. philly <3's ke$ha |
She's the best. Old school drunken slutty bad ass rock star style |
in for rebuild |
If the head and crank are ok I'll buy a block and build it. If they are fucked I'm buying a stock motor and keeping the thing stock |
Wow, impressive. Was that a flat shift? Also, I guess it's been asked, but this tune was made in the summer right? Had a chance to monitor KR? |
Not a flat shift, tune was at 60 degrees, it was 30 something degrees today. It was definitely leaning out, normally that car put down some healthy carbon at WOT and it didnt in that video |
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu.... Good luck with the build man... at least you had a backup plan. Sorry for your loss. |
Damn man sorry for your loss. That had to be the worst feeling ever when the car just died. Good luck on your new journey! |
|
Dude sorry about your car. That video made me sad. Your car sounds just like mine and I do the same thing hitting the on-ramp every morning. I'm glad you are going to build it back. |
I've seen this video from behind the car first hand. I was behind Boost3 when he blew on the Cherohala Skyway at EECMM 2009. Sprayed my car with oil and engine parts. One large piece of block or Rod, not sure which, bounced off my hood dinging it then hitting my drivers side mirror scratching it. When I removed my cars front bumper cover six months later to install a FMIC this fell out. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...CF7713-1-1.jpg It's cast aluminium and has to be a piece of his block. |

Is it an 07? |
I saw this posted on LS1tech by your roommate. I'm guessing he owns an LS1 Camaro? Also good luck with the rebuild. |
That sucks but its an opportunity for a new start. Subbed for tear down. |
lol at oil drop on the lens at the end. |
I take it you're catless? How was the camera mounted? Suction cup on the bumper? That's a rare video grab for sure. Glad you have the funds for a rebuild. |

4:08 - Looks like dark smoke and a chunk of metal flying out while still in 4th gear. When you went to 5th, it just started raining car. |
