Injector RX is the only place I know of that does DI injector cleaning/testing. Fuel Injector Cleaning, Servicing and Flow Testing - Injector RX

RC Engineering STILL doesn't do DI Injectors.

We'll be sending mine off to Injector RX for testing to see if #1 injector is cause of this fail.

We have had two locals send suspected bad injectors to injector rx that came back as "good". As soon as they went back into the engine, they were found to be bad and were replaced. [Which fixed the issue.] They aren't able to test at operating pressure, which is probably the issue.

Good point... their site does say they only test at (73 psi / 5 bar) and not the 1800 we need lol...

So, we might as well dip the injectors in B-12 chemtool then?

That is what we did with the injectors, just to clean them the best we could.

Seems like more melted pistons come from cali. Probabaly a result of shit gas, and running lean on OTS maps. Recipe for pre-ignition.

Cali gas is terrible. I'm glad e85 stations are starting to pop up more frequently out here.

Hi guys,

I would like to ask you, who have rebuilt the motors with cracked ringlands, how badly was the bore damaged? Was it ok and honing was enough, or did you need boring it out? Essentially, did you stay with 87.5 pistons or did you need to go bigger?

Thanks.

The ones I have seen, the bores were fine. However, I would probably just have it over bored, as the bores are usually out of round if the engine has any sort of miles on it. Cost for overbore and hone is usually only about 250. But then milling the head, inspecting the block etc, usually add a little more on top of that.

Hm, i've read other opinions, that if possible, you should avoid boring, for reasons that you might need to redo it later, it reduces heat management and strength.

If I decide to overbore, then I might order the pistons right away. Otherwise, I need to see if I can do with 87.5's.

Model/Year: 3 MPS 2010
Mileage: 29,000
Compression Results: 170, 170, 197, 170
Cylinders /w Cracked Ringlands: #1 , #3 & #4
Suspected Event Causing Failure, Condition of Affected Cylinder(s) and Other Info: Went WOT to overtake a lorry. Glanced at Cobb to see max boost at 22.63psi on stock MAP. Waiting at next junction, smoke coming from bonnet vent. Pull into car park, car has blown dipstick.

Prior to this, when driven hard, the car would have oil dripping from the cone filter. Also, I have been getting a small oil spray from the VVT oil actuator.
