I mostly just ignore your posts since they're of no use to me.

Assuming it is a N/A motor. I made that assumption based only on the fact that it came from a vehicle with an automatic tranny.

Wow, you really are that stupid. Fuck off if you're not going to listen to the advice being given to you. You're making me go crazy and thats because it's not even my car. Sounds like a damn nightmare.

Didn't read the lose job part until now, but it's going to bite you in the ass pretty soon.

I'm listening to the relevant advice. I'm not putting a N/A motor in. What I'm trying to figure out is whether or not this guy needs to send that motor back.

u can find out if its port or direct injected, meaning if the injectors are installed in the block then its direct, if its installed to the intake mani, than its port. Also, exhaust mani need to hold a turbo, so yea lots of things to look for to make sure its a correct motor. Hopefully u did get a cx-7 motor, because if it was just an n/a motor, your mechanic is wasting his and your time by ripping out a motor and installing a motor that he is going to have to remove anyways.

I waited 2 months for a new motor under warranty from Mazda and you are complaining about 6 weeks. The guys only took 16hrs to put it in...Granted, this was Mazda techs who know a little something something. I see another blown motor on the way and this time you will be waiting six months. Let's see the mechanic put that motor in THAT CAN HANDLE MAX 7psi BOOST (yeah I had an MZ3) and crank it up...

Thanks....see I thought all the 2.3L motors were DISI....just assumed they were essentially identical.

Another thing I was worried about....I thought the internals were weaker; just couldn't find the information I was looking for. Thanks.

Don't count on Mazda techs knowing much. The ones around here didn't know our turbo was oil cooled and also told me my car was fine when I know damn well the the timing chain tensioner is gone.

hey OP, does your "mechanic" drive a red cavalier?

Why you shouldn't build your Cavalier's turbo at Home Depot

It could be a N/A 2.3 from the older series MZ3. The tech at the dealer I go to has a 04 2.3l and added a reworked K04. He told me his internals will not handle more than 8-9 PSI and like others have said, the exhaust mani would have to allow for the turbo if it is an MZR engine.

In for hearing the motor is a 2.5 N/A.

Subbed.

I had a Mazda 3 5 door before (with the 2.3 N/A) trust me.. it won't handle the K04...
The CX7 engine DOES fit on the MS3, (only the block/head part).

2.3 NA engine Mounts will never fit on the MS3 mount points....

One thing I'm sure of is that the exhaust mani is set up for a turbo. The problem is that the turbo and intercooler didn't ship with the engine. Not sure about associated piping...

If you are worried about not having a car, rent one so you have car to get to work and to go get a look at your car. $300 rental better than mechanic screwing you out of money and having another blown engine.

My advice:

Call the mechanic, ask for the VIN on the block, type it into the vin search on CARFAX - Vehicle History Reports and VIN number check and you will find out what vehicle the motor came out of.

^^ The engine I had was one these that only could only handle 8 psi max. I had a 04 MZ3. I don't know about the newer 2.5's. I would suspect those engines are more fragile.

I am suspecting that you blew your engine from mods so no warranty claims?? What is your approach to getting your car fixed? The approach seems wrong to me. You can never trust a mechanic to do everything. I would have found a used CX7 or so, pulled it myself and have it shipped to the mechanic. The only thing they should be responsible for is putting it in (YIKES...nervous)

Engine was from a CX-7; it's running strong. Turbo smokes now but I figured it was a matter of time since I have no cats. Thanks to those who helped, and a big fuck you to those who didn't.
