Need diagnoses for grease/oil leak 3 Attachment(s) I recently discovered that I have an oil or grease leak around my front left lower arm (see photos). I'm guessing that this happened within the past 3 weeks. I can't find the source of the leak, but I think it's from the drive shaft because of the spray pattern, although it could be coming from somewhere else and spraying after hitting the drive shaft. I'm guessing that when I installed my Cobb springs, the front arm was unsupported for a while when I was changing my springs and this caused a leak path. Any ideas of how to figure out where the leak is, and how to fix it? Thanks |
looks messy. Get under the car and wipe everything you can, then maybe you can see where its coming from. Maybe you ran over a really greasy chicken or something. |
CV? |
check for cracks or holes on the inner cv boot. |
It def looks like you have a tear in your cv boot. Mazda won't rebuild it and local shops MIGHT but typically they just want to replace the axle from the joint out. |
Are you seeing the grease on the wheels or being thrown on the side of the car? I have had this problem from day one, especially when I am cornering hard. The problem is I cannot find any evidence of leaking from anywhere. |
cv boot is leaking where it joins the axle or is torn |
me personally i enjoy rebuilding them it pays more :D |

left side? passenger side? is that "greese" anywhere in the engine bay? |
The grease leak is around my front left lower arm. There's no grease in the engine bay. The spray pattern looks like the grease is coming out when I'm turning to the right. I also am finding it very difficult to find a leak on the boot; however, I'm now convinced after hearing the above comments that it's the boot. I'll check out the boot kit for now. Thanks for the help. |
i've replaced a cv shaft and boot in a civic before. hahaha, what a shitty job. have fun man! |
