Need help with boost cutout! Hey guys, recently I've been having a problem with a boost cutout in gears 3-6 around 4k-5k rpms. The problem goes away when the temperature outside is over 70 degrees. My mechanic is 2 hours away and I wanted to get some input here in case its something simple. Any help would be awesome. |
what tune are you using? do you have an upgraded hpfp? how much boost are you running? post logs. help all the beautiful minds here help you: http://i.imgur.com/AItdC04.gif |
Are you sure it's boost cut? The first thing you should check are your spark plugs. If those are fouled you could run into ignition cut which can be confused for boost cut. |
I see your sig doesn't say fuel internals. Please tell me you have them. |
As said ^, how do you know it is boost cut? Boost cut is typically a very violent thing. A WOT log would tell all |

I'm assuming you are stock internals and an stock/OTS tune... http://i.imgur.com/Fe8XkcW.png Most likely fuel cut due to overboosting. Particularly more noticeable when temps are cooler. Easiest way to tell is posting a log as previously mentioned and confirm you have internals and an AP. |
Currently I'm running a stock tune and to my knowledge stock internals. I bought the car used and it only had an exhaust, so if the guy who owned it previously upgraded anything else, I'm not aware of it. My next purchase is a cobb ap so I'll hopefully have some more info soon. It is a violent cutout, almost as if loses all power momentarily then starts pulling normally again. |
Drive that shit gingerly until you get an AP and can log your fuel pressure. I believe gen juans have a better tolerance to exhaust work than gen2s but a turbo back before increasing your fuel system ceiling by getting internals is generally a bad thing. |
http://i.imgur.com/t6YxrXe.gif get an accessport and your fuel pump internals, yesterday. your ecu (and your engine) is probably about ready to commit suicide trying to figure out wtf is going on with your car. it wasn't programmed to run what you have running. |
Thanks for the help guys. |
