I am going to call Superchips and see what they have in the horizon or actually working on. I saw a thread with this video and its pretty exciting...

Since I live right next door sort of, I'm going to try for them to R&R something for us. Though I wonder if being modded will throw off their tuning capabilities for stock applications/base tuning...?

I am soo stoked!!! I'm axiously waiting for the phone to ring or an email to come!!!!

Cool keep us updated

bova 04-22-2008 12:26 PM

well i got my car back and to me it just seems like it has better power throughout the whole power band now. that might also be because my rental was a mazda 6i, but i'll report back more info later on after i do some logs and what not.

no i did not let them replace the pump. i told them about my pump upgrade and that it had to stay. they were fine with it. the problem is my pump falls into the slow to respond category. turns out the new pumps are actually the same, its just the solenoid that is improved to respond quicker........guess who bought a new solenoid !! i put it on last night and i have not cut since. my pressure also does not dip like it was and the peak pressure is higher ! WOOT WOOT !
see for yourself.... my knock retard was below 2.0 last week. now it is going up into the 3's-4's again. i think the knock sensors are just too damn sensitive

AutoXRacer 04-22-2008 01:45 PM

So the solenoid can be replaced/updated? How do you know if you have an old version?
I just signed up to buy Mrlilguy's CDFP; how will I know he didn't use an older version fuel pump and whether I have a fast responding solenoid...?

How much was the replacement solenoid?

TRU-BOOST 04-22-2008 01:58 PM

jon (mrlilguy) is who informed me that all i needed was a solenoid. if you read the actual TSB it tells you how to decode some numbers on the pump. this will tell you the manufacured date. if it is after may 26th 07 the pump has the new solenoid, if not, that is when you may need the TSB actions done. Jon is replacing solenoids as needed as he rebuilds the pumps. everything that ships from him should need nothing done.

Laloosh 04-22-2008 03:03 PM

so is he replacing selanoids he already sent out? How do we get this selanoid?

tagkat 04-22-2008 03:14 PM

So how do we get the solenoid +1!

here is my log after the tsb upgraded pump, didn't do much for my fuel pressure drop. think i'll have to get an mrlilguy pump.

this is 3rd gear at 17psi and tuned, not perfect yet still adjusting my tune.

Means out engines are to damn noisy.. On the modular Ford motors, ford disables the knock sensors for the same reason. Car was pulling so much timing out, the cars were losing almost 70 horsepower because of the clank in the valvetrain and block.

At least you are not dropping to sub 1200PSI... I've dropped down into the 900s... :banghead:

CraigHJr 04-22-2008 06:07 PM

Haltech whats with the PM spam? "James" is preeching or something to me. Anyone else get that?

I have the pump and flash now and the car runs the same as with just the flash. I can't distinguish any differance in the AFR's. I have a pump on order anyway, but I wanted to get all the backround stuff done. Mods never fix a mechanical problem ya'know.

Haltech 04-22-2008 06:10 PM

Please fwd me a copy of what you are receiving so i can handle it.

phailerider 04-22-2008 06:14 PM

Can we buy the solenoids from the dealer? Who can answer this?

well i like doing logs so i did another one this morning in 3rd gear. temp was around 59, colder than when i did the one yesterday. i didn't seem to get any severe drops in fuel pressure. i am still order the upgraded fuel pump though, i'll probably need it when i add my downpipe this weekend. the one thing i did last night was clean my maf sensor and recharge my air filter.

Jesse MS3GT 04-23-2008 09:00 AM

I just got two reflashes. Dealer made me get the emissions recall flash and they also say they did the fuel pump TSB. Odd thing is they did both flashes in under an hour :dunno: I know the ecu/pcm needs to learn but so far the car runs worse, I have worse hesitation now than I did before. The dealer did not give me a work receipt stating "well send one in the mail to you". But the service manager did say if my car keeps acting up to bring it in for the fuel pump.

What PID are you guys using to see your fuel pressures??? Is it a standard or mazda specific pid?

bova 04-23-2008 09:03 AM

its under the main fuel menu, not the mazda one. i believe its called fuel pressure direct injection.

Jesse MS3GT 04-23-2008 09:09 AM

^ Thanks ill do some datalogs and see if my fuel pressure is fubar...

all new pump will get a new solenoid before shipping, if they are from the old effected date or earlier. on pumps that have shipped and are in use already you willl need to show him some evidence that your solenoid is slow to respond. mine was SUPER slow. during spool up my fuel pressure was falling into the 1100's WITH THE CDFP UPGRADE and only climbing to the 1600's up top. now i am in the 1700-1900 range all the way through.

take a look here is before the solenoid swap. look how low the pressure dips once i rolled on the throttle.
http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/4thagain.jpg
ok now this is with the new solenoid. notice the pressure does not drop and even the peak pressure is way higher.

AutoXRacer 04-23-2008 01:10 PM

WOW!!!!

Looks promising!!!! Look at that fuel pressure curve...its almost flatline!!!!
AWESOME!!!! :top: I can't wait!!!!

bova 04-23-2008 01:41 PM

but that knock chart is kind of scary the way it keeps increasing.

I still don't have a grasp on the knock thing... I see some plots with low knock volts and others high. I still don't quite understand it...:thinkerg:

well the tsb proved to be useless and i can't wait to get my mrlilguy pump. it was 45 degrees this morning and with my tune which is very conservative, only add 5 for fuel in from 3k-4k and i hit fuel cut this morning. boost is set at 17psi and i start pulling fuel around 4100 rpm. here is the log, the fuel cut can be seen where the afr spikes up. if it wasn't for the fuel cut it looks like i would have had good afr's all the way through.

AutoXRacer 04-24-2008 06:32 AM

What gear are you doing these pulls in?

the cdfp should really help. Ive added 6 for fuel in there and my a/fs drop like a rock even with a bigger turbo spooling. I havent had fuel cut except when I had that boost leak initially....lol

Have an enjoyable day.... the pump will work for this at least.

i do them in 3rd gear. unless i go on the highway its just to hard to do 4th or higher, go way to fast to quickly.

shucky 04-24-2008 02:08 PM

How much is the new solenoid? And do you need the TSB reflash to make it work properly?

bova 04-24-2008 02:27 PM

why bother with a new solenoid its not going to do anything for you, it didn't for me.

shucky 04-24-2008 02:48 PM

because Tru has gotten good results with the reflash and upgraded solenoid on his lilGuy cdfp. W/out the solenoid, and just the reflash with his current setup Tru was experiencing cut again until the solenoid was installed. At least that is how I understand it.

bova 04-24-2008 03:11 PM

well i am experiencing fuel cut with the new solenoid and reflash although i don't have the new lilguy pump yet.

Yup! The MLG CDFP :spam:

bova 04-25-2008 08:17 AM

well i can't wait to get mine. i'll have just about all the bolt ons you can have minus a bigger turbo and exhaust manifold.

Crossbow 04-25-2008 08:59 AM

TRU-BOOST,

Any chance you could list the part # of the new solenoid?

i actually ended up not paying for it. jon sent it to me. he is installing them on any pumps he builds that fall before the may26 2007 production cut off. since i already paid for a pump from him and was clearly having a big problem with my pressure from a roll he sent me one, AFTER the reflash did nothing for me. NOBODY should have to buy a solenoid. if you stock pump cant hold pressure mazda should replace it under the TSB.

Crossbow 04-27-2008 11:26 AM

Well thats the thing. If I could get the solenoid for cheap, and didn't have to go to the dealer, I'd much rather do that. I hate taking my car to the dealer, I'm terrified they're going to dent, scrape, break something. Rather pay 50-100 bucks and not have to deal.

tagkat 10-14-2008 12:20 AM

any update on the price of the solenoid?

tell that to my dealer that didnt even want to repleace my cats..... wen i told them about my fuel pump they were like fuck you....and said you dont need this shit.... so it would be nice if i can buy it somehwere

tagkat 10-19-2008 10:27 PM
