Oil in coolant resevior So I take it to the dealer and they tell me that it is the aftermarket BOV's fault that this has happened because a hose came off. They also state they doubt the head gasket is blown. Is this at all possible. I searched to the point im just fed up and didnt see anything about this. Any tips to how the oil got there without the head gasket being blown?? The car has 33k on it. Ive had it 3-4 months. Mods are only HKS SSQV and Corksport SRI. |
i would encourage you to post more info. like... mods mileage how long have you had the car how did you find out there was oil in the coolant were / are there other problems etc... |
That better? Im a bit of a noob |
Did your dealer do a complete coolant change for you? Did they say if a lot of oil in there? Has oil came back if coolant got replaced? Maybe consider an oil change also but I'm unsure how easy it would be to inspect the oil... Easy I would guess but I'm no expert. |
im doing the coolant flush in the morning myself. it looks like shit covered in poop. i took it from the dealer because the tech sounded mildly hadicapped |
Go back to the beginning... Why did it end up in the dealership in the first place? How much oil was it? How long since previous oil change? |
did the oil change the day before and took it to dealer for a CEL |
And did everything look good/normal prior to oil change? |
yup |
Well oil change is the most basic of things to do.. There's very little that could have caused oil to push back like that.. How much oil was in the coolant? TapaFAIL!!! |
i actually just went out to my car and took a little coolant out and it looked completely normal but from a distance looks like mud also thanks for all your help |
sounds like the mazda tech u were talking is handicapped, hose off the bov will only cause a vac leak check your oil cap/dip stick for chocolate milk looking gunk also .... did the car ever overheat? |
Have you ever used water wetter? |
nah just looked it just has a little fresh oil on it |
Oil level looking good? See how your coolant change goes... Hopefully it's nothing. |
has any one added water wetter or anything like that? i have heard of it causing the fl22 or oem coolant to sludge up. never seen it so just throwing something out there. and what hoe was off the bpv? the recirc big one or the little vac line? it only has 2 iirc. |
the vac line on the end away from the bov. oil level looks good prolly half way up the line. and it looks normal there too. and no to the water wetter |
Hmmm I think he is a retard, but have you put any kind of additives in your coolant. Also have fun with getting the air out of the system, mazda's are a pain in the ass to get air out. |
How long have you owned the car? Long shot but previous owner could of put wetter water in? Edit - read first post... 3-4 months so its a possiblly for sure. |
no and getting air out? where do i start? |

It does. |
Ive had watter wetter in my system for like 40k miles no gunk in my shiz. Also OP what was the cel you took it in for? |
it leaves some kind of residue or build up in the hoses. I had to change one of the oil cooler hose and it had pinkish/orange residue lining the inside of the hose. Plus i haven't ran the water wetter since two flushes ago and it also left stains on my reservoir. |

the cel was a vacuum leak from the bov being disconnected |
Do a compression test for good measure. |
