pepper specks on my itv22 i experienced some sputtering and/or mis-firing in 3rd gear at wot. decided to pull the plugs and noticed some little black specks on the porcelin of each plug. plugs have ~8k miles on them. i reinstalled the stockers just to see if the misfiring was gone and it was. should i go 2 ranges colder or what? i'm running stage1+sfv107 fmic thanks |
Go up one heat range or goto copper ngk! |
itv24? also, what brand and part# for the copper plugs? thanks |
peppering = detonation. Are you seeing lots of KR? |

2 things are happening... 1) Your gap is wrong... try .026 2) Porcelain is cracked.. Densos do this. Black pepper color on the plugs isnt detonation.. if they were green speckles, than absolutely, but black? Leads me to believe its the gap and the speckles are from arching. Got pics of the plugs? |

the pic is crappy so you probably wont be able to see much. actually running rich judging by the soot. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...zda/plugs1.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...e/100_8937.jpg |
Yeah i think, cant fuckin remember densos numbering... but regardless, they are still colder than stock. Did you gap your plugs at all? .026 is where they should be. Use a feeling gauge and tap the ass end of that plug on the table or concete floor to close it up to correct gap. Measure with feeler gauge. |
Re-gapping is probably what needs done. I started to get a stutter in 3rd gear as well then re-gapped an it went away. |
post enlarged pics..... speculation based on what a nub sees is pointless..... post pics |
