If you order from Edge they send it with a stock flanged EWG HOTSIDE from ATP. Basically a bolt on turbo just like any other ATP turbo solution for the Mazdaspeed.

HTA uses the same Garrett GT30 CHRA but installs/balances their own compressor wheel and housing. Also it sounds like a tornado when it spools.

If you order directly from Forced Performance, you can have them build it with their new HTZ compressor wheel and then order the EWG hotside from Edge. It's going to be more expensive but it's an option if you want to go that route.

IIRC, the HTZ spools even faster doesnt it?

It should, yes. It's been out for such a short period of time though that I haven't really seen any kind of concrete info on them yet.

Htz should flow a few lbs more but spool from what I was told by fp shouldn't be affected.

If I went hta I would not do a mazda flange. Fp recommends atleast a .82 and the mazda flange is like .55 or .63. It can be done tho but you'll really hold a 3586 back tremendously. In all honesty any 35r is going to be limited on the mazda flange.

When I asked ATP they said it was .72 (for the GT35 hotside at least).

@cam1391; what turbo were you going with, gtx3076? change your mind again yet? lol @broda; based on what I saw off @NCspecV81;s build thread, the 3586 spools about 600 rpms later than the 3067. I wonder if the HTZ will be in between the 2 or as quick or what....

This is very true. It all depends on power goals. I'm shooting for 500 give or take a few hp so a mazda flanged hta3076 will meet my goals and still be modular with other mazda flanged items but is not for every one. On a hta35, yea I would see no point in going mazda flanged at that stage of power/build.

@jdmage_mx5; IM not looking to break 500, as I dont want to have to key the crank or pin the cams or anything like that. 450ish at the wheel swith quick spool is the overall goal, which is why Im having such a dilemma in picking a fucking snail lol.

IIRC the 3067 si similar to 2871 only that is spools slower than the 28. So why 3067 when there's 3071 and 76?

I've talked to people like Freek about the whole pin cams, key crank situation and he said he has many builds at 500 hp without any key or pins. When torqued right the OEM set up tends to hold just fine.

I know a local guy that is not pinned or keyed and he is at 525 hp to the wheels on a gtx3076. It's been running stout for a couple of years now with one main issue of the head gasket letting go a few months back but I think the Cometic head gasket was to blame.

the 67 is supposed to flow like a 30 series and spool like a 28 series. best of both worlds. I didnt look at the 3076 as I figured it would be a little too laggy for me, but my buddy is building one, so I will soon be able to see first hand.

thats good to know, but after going zzb once already, I'd rather not risk it again. IM just going to keep it under 500. thats more than enough power on a fwd car anyway

how are you liking the 3586 over the 3067 overall?
I like it. The spool is missing but it's manageable. Especially once you get into the higher rpm's.

my 3067 flowed just fine tho. Another local who had one also had great results. Not sure the gtx28 could match it. He made 460 something whp @28psi. My 3067 made 404 @ 22psi.

the 3067 is what ive been leaning towards. was that other local on e85 and meth, or just e? was 460+ a stretch for him?
