PMM went bye bye

So after a few months of wondering why the hell there was a rattling noise on cold start ups near the passenger side of the car, I gave in and had it checked out by the stealership. I initially figured it was the VVT actuator. They thought otherwise and suspected my PMM was done and wanted $300 to diagnose and replace. No thanks.

Took it to my mechanic and had him look it over and said that the noise indeed did come from my passenger motor mount. Who knows why. Took it off and replaced with my old TopSpeed PMM and the rattling is gone now. Strangely enough, there's no leak or anything wrong it seems with the stock mount. However, there was a lot of play allowed on the mount itself, which lead me to believe that the rubber was somehow giving out and allowing the mount to hit either against the frame of the car or itself. This bugs me as I know the PMM is liquid filled but why did it shake only when it's cold and the car has been sitting there for a few hours?

Hmm, that's interesting. I think everyones cars makes a bunch of other noises during cold starts though, it's a mazda and I've learned to deal with it haha. A local friend of mine just had his passenger motor mount go out, the fluid that they put inside of it is now covering his engine bay.

It was a fairly loud and obnoxious sound that I grew to live with that's been occurring over the past 5 or so thousand miles. It sounded like something was obviously rattling up against my A pillar, like a dryer with bricks in it for the first second or two, but I didn't think much of it till I finally decided, "GOD THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS."

Start car, RATTLE RATTLE, turns over. Looking at the bright side of it, at least I ended up swapping it out before real bricks were shat. Did your friend go aftermarket or did he stick with a stocker replacement? My other mounts are still stock.

Aftermarket. The Streetunit side motor mounts are more than worth the money. If you want a cheaper alternative the TRZ tranny mount is awesome too to pair up with your topspeed mount. Wait.. do you have a speed3 or speed6?

Speed3 good sir. I originally had the TRZ/PMM+ETD all locked in. Decided vibes were way too much for a DD and went back to stock. Only to find out my PMM is probably failing.
