Several of us are puttind down 350, but just having a built motor doesnt really net you much horsepower. Its all the other aftermarket parts like the exhaust, intake, intercooler, and most importantly bigger turbo.

From what I've gleaned from posts primarily by 06speed6, the restriction once you go big turbo / built engine is the throttle body and intake manifold. A stock bottom end can probably break 350 if those parts are replaced... for a little while at least.

it comes down to money. i dont think theres been anyone who has been able to really do it big at once, i'm waiting for someone with tons of money to spend to buy a stocker and overhaul it all at once with a protune etc. you need like 12k to do everything at the same time, but in the end it will still blow up because mazda cant fix a plastic fucking valve. we need Eddie Van Halen dude, if we're ever going to have a most triumphant vehicle.

i know it takes more than a built motor to get those numbers,i was just curious to see if it is worth it to build my motor or trade for something else,if i can get 350/350 reliablely i think i will keep the car, that is why i was asking, thanks guys for the input

also worried about fuel, that was my main reason for posting this, but would vivids fuel mod address higher hp numbers,i guess what i mean is can we hit about 350/350 with the fuel resraints we have

I don't know what's taking so long to get a lot of parts on the market (secondary injection system, throttle body, intake manifold, high lift cams, etc...)

With the resources the tuning companies have, all that stuff should have been out a long time ago and we should be able to make a lot more power than 350.

Socks is making over 400 with nitrous

Two of the local guys are putting down over 350 whp with their 3071s on stock internals. I suspect Dustin will eventually dyno over 400 whp with his current setup and the DCR manifold. Anyone not making 400 whp with a built motor and big turbo needs testicles as their next mod.

i dont recall them doing it all at once. i remember it being a test and go as you go situation. im talking about going from stock to turbo kitted with all the fixings in one shot. NO ONE has done that. this isnt fast and furious. a crashed supra cannot be built in a 45 second montage lol. but i bet a shop could fully bolt on and tune a speed in 7 days like overhaulin or street customs, 12k in parts, not including labor btw.

IMO, the only reason to build right now is for reliability. I think the stock block can handle more than 350whp safely once the restrictions and fueling are taken care of. Until then, you're pretty much limited by those things whether you're built or not.

But who wants to drive a Neon??! Crappy car! Take a 450hp tuned Neon/SRT4 and a stock speed3 out on the track the MS3 will still win all day!!

two retarded statements in one post. Wouldn't expect anything less from someone wearing a gold star.

so what happens when someone makes a TB, IM, and direct port fuel and this car still fails ?
Is everyone going to sell their car ?

Used 1990 300zx-tt with only 40,000 miles and a freshly rebuilt stage 4+ engine = $14,000
BIG turbo setup = $3,000
-------------------------
1200whp for $17,000

I know I got really lucky on that one. I never did the big turbo but the previous owner had one on there and dyno'd over 1200 uncorrected, then rebuilt the engine and put a smaller turbo on for ~800whp. I bought it with stock turbos, still making over 400whp.

You just can't compare cars that way.

MS3/6 = very nice, reasonably priced car that also has good power
SRT4 = pure fail with a good engine stuffed in it

NOT driving a neon = priceless

I'm glad somebody actually caught that and had the balls to say something. Bravo! LOL!

It's just friendly kidding intended to prompt people to action, but I do think this car has more potential than is currently being exploited. I also think that the fuel and flow restrictions that a lot of people think are the limiting factors aren't as low as most people think they are. I think the stock manifold and fuel system are adequate for 400 whp.

I also think that trepidation about the possibility of blowing a very expensive motor on a relatively new car is the current real limiting factor preventing us from seeing 400+ whp from the cars out there that have the mods to support it. I can't fault anybody for that, really, I just want to see the 400+ whp dyno charts soon.

As far as the mysterious locals, they post here. One is djuosnteisn, and the other is MSP6COP. Djuosnteisn made 357/353, and MSP6COP made 343/352 with a boost leak and OTS tune. MSP6COP has since fixed the boost leak and done some ATR tuning, and the MAF g/s increases indicate that he's well past 350 whp now. Also, firestonemazda on mazda6club made 356/365 on his 2871, although he's farther away, and not a local. Djuosnteisn has hit over 300 MAF g/s with a bit of boost creep on a cold morning. The ricer math on that calculates to about 409 whp! That was with no knock, good AFRs, and a rising MAF curve that was just begging for more boost than the 23 psi it crept to. Djuosnteisn has the right kind of innovation and bravado that it takes to push his car to the next level. From the work I see by some members on this forum, I know there are others capable and willing too. It's just a matter of time.

Yeah, I'm special like that!

As far as this car failing, development with the MZR motor is really still in its infancy. I think 350+ will be extremely commonplace in the not too disant future, and 400+ on stock motors will not be uncommon at all. With the mods you speak of, I think 500+ will happen on this car sometime in 2010. Then they'll probably sell it and move on to the next challenge.

oh hi. im still here.

433whp/440wtq

kthx

expecting at LEAST 450whp/500wtq once the new fuel pumps go in. Drop my 12.0-12.5:1 AFR to an 11.0-11.5:1 on nitrous and should make gobs more torque, and a nice lil bump in power.

its in the dyno section...

8.8:1 Compression
GT3071r
125shot (although i think it would have made the same power on smaller jets due to lack of fuel)

personally if your even thinking about building this car at this point in time i would have a nitrous setup number one on my list, no way in hell would i build it for 350, if i built it 450whp would be the minimum goal, 350whp is stock block shit
