PTP windage tray

I just did this mod yesterday (bsd and windage tray) and had a great time doing it. The only thing I did different was that I purchased an F2 bolt in BSD kit instead of the press in block plug that PTP provides. I just wanted to be able to remove it easier if needed (as I prefer with all of my mods) and I didn't want the hassle of pulling out a press-in plug.

I've got the TRZ Delrin rear mount (installed a week ago) and I can only feel increased vibes at around 4500 or so with the ballance shaft gone (about the same RPM as others have reported), which doesn't make a bit of difference to me...but... I will be selling my TRZ though as it's just to stiff for this old man to drive every day... Medeival rear mount is on it's way.

As for the windage tray, I read that PTP thought it might help with the turbo smoking issue... IT DOESN'T. I still smoke like a mofo. Just FYI.

Thanks for the write up on the install, give a few days to see if the windage tray helps with the smoking issue. What weight oil did you put back in the motor after the install?

Next, we are working on an issue with the smoking turbo issues but I am kind of stumped with what I am finding out, if you want to pop into our section and check out what we have found, it might be some help to have you post up what you have done to try and fix the smoking turbo issues. Thanks.

0-40 Royal Purple is what's in it now and does the best that I've tried, and it's not even that it smokes less than other oils (which it does seem to do) it's that it SMELLS better when it does burn, LOL! I think I'm going to try a Rotella diesel oil (or other diesel oil) next time as I hear it has better detergents to avoid the solvent washing problem that the DISI seems to have. I've had 2 UOA's done and both were 1.2% or higher fuel content and were visually thinner than they should be at 3000 miles or less. All have been black in color, even the oil change I did at 1700 miles.

What I'm hoping is to find with this windage tray is longer oil life. If nothing else, I know it's got to help having more oil in the pan due to the bsd, along with treating the oil better by not beating the snot out of it with the rods at high rpm. I'll follow up at 1000 or so miles to see how it's doing...

We have found that RP is REALLY bad for this motor. I am currently using Eneos 5w40. Also, do you have a OCC? One that is baffled and filtered? That will make a HUGE difference.

I have to concur. We used RP on our road race Z for a season and saw evidence of rod bearing wear. Sitched to AMSoil and zero wear in 2 seasons with a lot more mileage and 150 more whp. I will say i cannot recommend RP atleast for high stress environments.

Thanks for that bit of info, have you gotten your WT installed yet?

I am happy that I am no the only one that has seen these issues. I only use there Water Weter since I can say that is one of the products that they make that works. The PS fluid made a noticable difference as well.
