resonator delete/ race pipe question I currently deleted my 2nd resonator and it sounds decent. I was thinking of getting rid of my 2nd cat to make more power but i dont want the car to sound like shit. Does anyone have this setup deleting the 2nd cat and resonator? I looked on you tube to see if i can hear it but I cant get a good sound from them. |
straight pipe ftw |
It sounds great, gives it more of a growl with out the cats. |
its called youtube my friend. You could've typed 4-5 words in the search area, and found SEVERAL videos |

Ah, well then get better speakers |
yeah, i mean people can put videos up on youtube, but the quality is usually bad, there is always noise in the background |
1 MS3 driver out here has it. Both resinators removed test pipe. Everyoen asks what exhaust he has. and we tell them. usualyl get butt hurt since it sounds better and cheaper then buying a cat back. sounds like a little louder and a little throatier than a subie. |
Sound is very subjective. Like whether you like blondes or redheads, etc. My like may be your hate and vice versa. For what it is worth, I'm running a 3 inch catless downpipe and racepipe into the stock CBE. Still have both resos and the muffler. Loud as shit and really headache producing drone inside the cabin when decelerating through the 2,500 rpm range or cruising at that rpm. I ADDED a 3 inch high flow straight through reso in the racepipe section that mellowed out the sound and killed the drone dead. No loss in power with the reso added. Each to his own. You really can't go by other people's taste in exhaust sound and the sound ciips on YouTube do not sound like real world. I've got a 40-120 mph video posted there under this user name (12.5 seconds). It has sound with it. Believe me, what you hear does not sound like the real thing. BTW, save up for a high flow catless or catted downpipe to go with that racepipe and quit farting around with resos and shit. There will be a noticable increase in exhaust sound level and a change in tone along with a hugh bump up in power. The stock CBE has excellent flow just as it is. |

I am saving for a cobb downpipe and a CPE CDFP but they are both costly. I was just looking for something to do in the mean time that wasnt expensive. I just didnt want it to sound like shit. I have 1 res. out now but i wouldnt mind it sounding a little louder. Quote:

I just deleted my res yesterday. Removed res right after SU racepipe. So far, seems like >3.5k RPM, the sound is the same. Or at least I can't tell inside the car as at that point the turbo noise mixes in as well. <3.5k RPM however, the car sounds more "gurgly". I really like it. It gives it a bit more personality, the racepipe by itself sounded very monotone through the RPM range. decibel wise, I'd say 10% louder. Stock stereo set to ~35 will still drown out the exhaust note with the windows down. Negligible difference in drone. Not a bad sound "mod" for $40-60 |

Straight pipe for the win! Im test pipe followed by straight pipe single exit...i love it and get compliments all the time. Best $180 ive spent on the car. Pretty much it sounds like a pissed off subie that was raped by a srt4...like the creation of hercules except more of a 300 style combat! |
