Reverse Spring Sticks in Heat?

Today it was abnormally hot (100 degrees) and my car had been sitting in the hot sun of a parking lot for hours. When I got in my heatbox black speed3 and pushed down on the spring for the reverse gate it stuck. I was able to get in and out of reverse but I had to lift the shifter back up to get into 1st. The spring would not disengage when I pulled it out of reverse as it normally would. Has anyone else had a similar problem with this? I am assuming it has something to do with the heat and the spring expanding. I am going to check when it cools down if it still happens.

I've seen this problem a few times, there's some kind of debris that gets in between the shifter and sleeve and prevents it from popping back up. as long as you're covered the dealer will fix it for you

I just bought a used speed3 and am having the same issue with the shifter sticking. Did you ever resolve the issue? If so how?

i just jerked it up and down, you know like you do when you go to brazzers… do that for like 3-4 min and it should free up, don't look it in the eye at the end, grease in the face SUCKS:puke:

no but really, i did this when mine was acting up out of frustration and now it pops up and down with ease.

just try not to do it too much, you'll go blind :hypnotized:

all you gotta do is...

1) Pull up on your cup holders and remove
2) Pull up on the trim around your shifter
3) Apply lithium/bearing/(insert lube here) to the spring and its surroundings

Everything should be a lot smoother and non-sticky after this.

In fact, every time you change your motor oil, you should check the lube on your shifter cable links and shifter assembly. No lube = friction = problems

Too much lube is never a bad thing!
