Reworked K04

So ive been wanting to eventually upgrade my turbo, but being a DD i was kind of in debate about having to rebuild the motor and putting a BT in.

I found this reworked K04 at protege garage:
Protege Garage - High Performance K04 Turbo Build - MZR 2.3 DISI

So my question is can i do this and get some decent gains on the stock internals reliably?

My current mods are: SRI, BPV, TIP, TP, SB, and a RMM.

I'd assume at the very least an IC upgrade would be a good idea. What else should I be thinking to do to get ready for this upgrade? HPFP, mani, DP?

xcoldricex 05-06-2010 09:08 AM

i'd get a hpfp and a dp before a reworked. no need to build.

x2...no need to build, but definately get a fuel pump

TRex 05-06-2010 10:03 AM

do they offer the compressor map for the new compressor? where does the compressor come from?

i would like to see the map to see the best potential boost to run it at...i am between this and a bnr....but unfortunately the bnr's are so much money for what appears to be about the same gains you would get with this

on a side note...when is cpe going to finish this http://www.cp-e.com/2037.html?open=38

xcoldricex 05-06-2010 10:09 AM

i don't think they have plans to finish that but i don't know - it's been up there for years.

thanks for the input, i'll talk to the guys at CPE about which flashes i should be considering to go with the SB tune and stuff.

No need for an IC upgrade?

And please dont all get your hopes up, im not ordering this anytime soon. just now that the basic boltons are almost all in place i want to start figuring out what the final setup for this car will be. Im thinking to run this turbo and meth and the car will be pretty badass and wont be worried about it blowing up...

dont go with the pg reworked i had it and it worked but i hear much better things from the sst reworked turbo. and no need to rebuild just watch the afr and tune.

holeinmypocket 05-06-2010 09:38 PM

seeing that i used to have one and that it probably helped blow up my car...keep the boost low on it unless u want to get a tune...u will still see gains at stock boost levels

I wouldnt turn up the boost or even put this in without a tune.

Im leaning towards the SST. need to work on a DP, FP and flashes first though. Might do an FMIC before the turbo also.

This seems like an easier and safer way to get some decent numbers from our cars. surprised more guys arent going for this.
