If you haven't blown, is it possible to swap out the stock rods for aftermarket ones without pulling the motor? |
Doesn't seem to be. The timing cover and components seem to be the biggest difficulty. There's a fair amount of stuff that needs to come off the block and as i'm learning (i used to want to do it in the car like you too), it's best to just do it right, and pull the block. You should really send it to a machine shop to at least check the deck and cylinder bores and crank and stuff. Esp if your going to put in the money for upgraded internals. |
You can swap pistons and rods with the engine in the car, if you have very many miles it wont run worth a shit because it wont hold a good compression and unless your very lucky it will probably vibrate very badly, but it is definitely possible if you want to do things absolutely the hardest way possible. |
You need your block machined prior to installing new parts. |
