(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score pic 1 is the 1st stable run of the day at 15 psi pic 2 is final run about 23 -24 psi pic 3 is just an overlay of the two graphs Sorry for the video, I thought I caught a full run, but this was a short 3rd gear pull to test boost control at 23 psi. This is where we stopped, nothing more could be done to make more power, the stock cat back starts to choke things up at this point, there was no need to beat on it anymore. I believe the stock exhaust is really good to this point, I am only about 40 whp from the highest recorded speed 3 on this dyno. Would have I liked to see 400 - 450? Absolutely, I will soon get there....

| Not Ranked : 0 score you were at cpe today???????? the 2 highest hp speed3s that i know of that used this dyno was when we had the shop it and that was robbie with 380hp and socks with 395... when we did the 409 on the dyno jet we dynoed it that morning on the mustang and made 356 about two weeks later we made 380!! good job silver!!

(the fucking ego killer of a dyno... hahahaha) Socks, we looked through all of the runs that were saved on the computer, and could only find the highest of something like 370 or so. I had thought that you had made more power, but could not find the run saved in the dyno computer. But don't worry, your record is still safe.....at least for now..hahaha

So, being that the genpoo exhaust is more restrictive than gen 1, I wonder if it will be a restriction for me? Granted, I won't be making the power u are, but hopefully 350-380 whp (not on the heartbreaker of course). I can't wait to see the power you put down when you get shit all lined up! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Scott, the torque falls off pretty abruptly at 5700 rpm, did you guys spend much time on timing? Just seems weird that the torque would take a sudden dive at a specific rpm when a flow restriction is the cause. Typically you just see the torque gradually drop faster and faster, not like a specific elbow. Just curious. Also, are you using any water injection or race gas?

I do not have meth injection....at all Pump gas and 19 psi and insane amount of timing (I do not know exact timing until I look at the BBX logs, but I think it was somewhere near 23-25*) The car made good power, with out a hint of knock. Made many repeatable runs at that level, BAS was set up at 25%, no misfires. 5 gallons of Sunoco VP 110 was put in with less than half a gallon of 93. Raised the boost to about 23 and added 1* of timing, this is where we saw a detonation event on #1 cylinder. Kind of scary to pull the plug and see that for the first time hahaha! Pulled the 1* back out and it would repeat the runs like with out further mishap. What seems to be a little strange is on the drive home I am back on 93 octane (several tanks of pump gas cycled through the car) with the 23 psi race gas tune and the car shows no sign of knock, and I stabbed the throttle several times, it just fucking hauls like I have never seen before. Moving on to the torque drop at ~5500 rpm. Both the tunes have the same timing values all the way to red line. I agree that it should drop a little more gradual with a flow restriction, but I know the tune is perfect, and lets face it, a 2.5" exhaust was not meant to flow this much air. The exhaust is 3" to the mid pipe, then squeezes down to 2.5" with the factory silencer and muffler. I thought it did great considering. I will install the 3" straight through exhaust this week end and we will see how it does. If this does not do it, I will run a 4" cut out behind the front wheel....ahahahhaha  Just to let everyone know, this is just the end of the first chapter...many more chapters will follow!!!

| Not Ranked : 0 score Did the detonation event occur above or below 5700 rpm? Odd that you detonated with the higher octane, but i guess with the added boost it may be understandable. Are you certain your not beyond MBT? Like Sean mentioned, there's a plateau point, where any extra timing doesn't buy you any extra power. And from my experience it's several degrees deep. So if you actually detonated at 24psi and 1* more timing, you may want to pull like 3* back out, or keep pulling it til you see the torque drop, then add 1* back in. Just food for thought. I know your built, but detonation can still wreak havoc! And i also know i'm not telling you anything you don't already know

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score No worries man!! thanks for looking out for me I do not know when the event happened, but I know it was in the upper end of the revs, because I was standing right next to the car when it happened. The power was still increasing with each timing adjustment, until we hit the event, pulled the degree out and left it there. I truly do not think the car surpassed MBT based on the power increase with each adj. The engine simply does not exhibit KR where it is right now.

How many pulls did u do before u detonated? Possible heat soak high bat's . Too many pulls in a row without spraying down the i/c with co2 or nos to drop the temps could cause detonation. |

So, yes, the heat did not help anything , could have played a roll in detonation. Edit: There were probably a good dozen pulls before the knock event.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Got the CP-E exhaust on this afternoon!! I kind of found out how bad the stock exhaust drones when the cats are removed. My SOTP dyno will have to be used...it is not calibrated very well I have not had a chance to run it much, kind of busy tonight, but I did do a few short runs when the boost tube from the turbo popped off...holy shit it was loud!!! hahaha

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well, seeing how CP-E is a 400 mile drive, I might not be able to get there until next year. Going to another dyno, even if it is a Mustang, it will not be accurate comparison. The next stage of the build is going to begin in a few weeks. I just ordered W/M injection system, with the pro fuel controller for the stand back. I am also going to go about the install in a little bit different way than the standard. I want to do some testing before I release any details of the set up, but, if it works, this should be a plus in the terms of where the water/meth is injected. Don't worry, I will let everyone know what I did, and how to do the install if it all works......and if it does not work, I will share my fail as well....hahaha
