Smoogs12's blown boost tube

PROBLEM SOLVED. Was simply a blown boost tube that caused all the problems. I=fail

To summarize for anyone that didn't see that thread:

-08 Speed 3

-33k on odo, 2k ish on bt

-350hp/360tq

-@Lex Tuned

-Boom, couch fucked.

What we know so far:

-Timing chain is very slack

-No oil loss

-Hot side boost coupler on the turbo did pop off. This could account for part or all of the pop noise that I heard (good call @atvfreek)

-car will turn over (at least it did once) but runs pretty shitty.

The plan:

-First take off valve cover and drop oil pan just to get a better understanding of what is wrong

-Talked to @JP@edgeautosport.com and he is putting together a parts list for me. but atm im thinking as follows.

K1 rods

Wiseco pistons (stock bore)

ARP Main/Head Studs

Cometic head gasket

JBR TIGs (why not)

Also might try the toyota fuel seals

-Profit

Hopefully will have pics around Saturday ish or as soon as I can get my friends with the engine hoist to my place.

What does shitty mean when it's turned on? Bad mechanical noise? Because with that coupler off it will run really rough. I know - crazy - but maybe it's not blown

I dont recall any terribly harsh engine noises. I could get everything buttoned up and give it another try if you think thats the best thing to do.

Pulled the plugs too and had a look. Seems fairly normal to me. Looking for opinions though as most of you guys would probably know better. Attached pics, cellphone quality but its something.

Ya with that coupler off, I bet that's what the issue was. I would try reassembling and turning it over. It may take a sec for the car to smooth out, cause it went really rich when it shut off. Possibly set a few codes too.

Reassemble, clear codes and recheck. If there is damage it's already done, so it's worth a shot.

So what do you guys think about the slack in the timing chain? There has to be like an inch of play.

There will be some slack in the chain depending on where the engine stopped. If you turn the motor over by hand (socket on crank pully bolt) does the chain slack go away?

i cant belive im saying this...but i think its fine..hooked everything up car turned over and ran! checked chain tension and it was back to normal as well!

I feel like an idiot for not noticing something so simple. But hey, at least im an idiot who is 1k$ richer than he would have been if you guys hadnt helped me out. Damn. Good shit.
