Starting funny?

Hi all!

I have a 2007 Mazda 6, 140,000km, in the last 3 weeks or so it has started rough 3 times. It will kinda hesitate to start and then idle rough. I'll give it some gas and it goes away immediately. It seems to happen during short shut off times, last night I ran into the store and then came out 5 mins later...

The first 2 I had a quarter of a tank of gas or less so I thought it was crappy gas, then this time, yesterday, I had almost a full tank of gas.

I have no error codes or warning lights. Car runs fine other than that.

What should I do? Bringing it to the dealership will cost a lot, and any other repairs i've ever had done this car have been up to $1200.

Thank you for your help!!

@wonderish;

This is the Mazdaspeed forum and Mazdaspeed3 section but I'll help you out.

Clean MAF sensor, clean throttle body, check intake valves, check spark plugs and plug gap. It's most likely a dirty MAF sensor if you haven't cleaned it before. I've also seen throttle bodies getting stuck on start up because of oil and dirt buildup around the butterfly valve. My girlfirend's 3 had the same thing happening and it ended up being the throttle body from build up. Went away after I cleaned it.

Sorry, the whole layout of this forum is a bit confusing.

Is there other threats that show how to clean the sensors, check for the other things?

Google the stuff I told you to check there's tons of information available. Oh and no need to check the intake valves since you're not driving a speed. Just clean the MAF sensor, clean your thorttle body, change the plugs if needed, check for a clogged air filter.

I googled, found a step by step site for a Mazda 6 for the MAF thing. I'll get a new air filter tonight, i've had the one in there now for a long, long long time.

Thank you!!

If you don't keep up with the maintenance then when problems arise don't even ask on forums what the problem may be.
