Still working on this damn tranny Okay so this transmission either hates me, or is damaged, or both. (probably both) I've got it running the motorcraft oil, and the new rmm and bushings are on the way, but I am pretty confident in saying that it's an internal issue. When it is warm, it has almost no problems, albeit a bit 'sticky' feeling or 'thick' between gear changes. When it is even remotely less than toasty out side (talking 70-75 degrees) shifting into second is met with either huge resistance, or with a metallic clunk, and same with 3rd. But, after playing around with it, i learned that double clutching the UPSHIFT makes the shift almost perfect no matter the temperature. So that seems like synchros. Yet, if i pop it into 3rd gear, and then clutch in, take it into neutral and then throw it back into 3rd, it goes in no problem. I may be mistaken but i thought that meant the syncros were okay and working, because it held the gear for a second. I could be wayyyyy off base here though, and thats why I am asking for an opinion or 45. |
