SURE RMM

8 Attachment(s)
So, last weekend I decided to install my recently purchased Sure RMM. Install took a total of maybe 30 minutes. The hardest part was removing the bolts. They were all rusty and super tight. Anyways, I love how it feels. Shifts are super smooth now with no vibration. Only vibes I feel are at about 1000 RPMs when going into first gear. All I do is accelerate a little more on take off and I'm fine. Also, while I was down there, I took some pics of the down pipe my car had when I bought it. I believe it is a turboxs downpipe. I also noticed that there was a magnaflow pipe in between there. No wonder my car sounds so nice. Anyways, pictures are attached. Enjoy!

a ssp costs what, like $100, and a cbe is around $500.. big difference! go with the ssp first. it instantly makes the car more fun to drive as well as making the shifting crisp and quick. a weighted knob is nice with the ssp as well, smooths the shifting even more.

^^ Yep ^^

Ordered JBR SSP stage 2 in the middle of the night last night, already have a tracking number.

kick ass.

And a CBE ain't gonna get you any power. Only a change in sound. Put your money in things that improve performance, IMHO.

I have the J Barone SSP plate with shifter bushings and heavy knob, its makes a world of difference! I love it! Thanks J Barone for making a kickass product!

Those are great pics. Thanks for taking and posting them.

I just put on the SURE RMM about 1000 miles ago after almost 50,000 miles in the stocker and have a slightly different dirving experience, however. I have the street version busihing, and even with that, there is significant vibration at idle or anywhere below about 1,100 rpm. While this is to be expected and is the usual trade off when upgrading a motor mount with a performance replacement, the vibration is real and it is noticable.

I'd be lying if I didn't acknowledge that it makes the dash buzz and the contents of my glove box rattle when sitting in traffic. And, yes, it's installed properly and bolts torqued correctly. And there is a coarseness in the drive train during normal driving at just about any rpm. Four cylinder motors, even with balancing shafts, are inherently shakers. That's why manufacturers isolate the engines so well.

But, I have completely solved my major problem: I was misssing the 2-3 shift as much as 50% of the time before when flatshifting at 5,800 rpm WOT. Now, I hit that shift every time. Huge improvement. Worth the trade off in smoothness, but I have to be honest that the vibes are there.

I installed my SURE rear motor mount this weekend. Everything above is exactly correct! I do also get a vibration, especially with the A/C on. Do you guys thing that will tone down with time once the mount has time to break in? I am really happy with this purchase because the shifting quality is much improved. I just hope the vibrations willl tone down a little

Vibrations should settle a bit. If you are sick of the dash rattle, BioEvolve did a "How-To" on the subject.

MS3TURBOD07 04-05-2011 07:33 AM

def. vibration here but all is good smoother shifts and feels more like a sports car..

xtasy 04-05-2011 11:53 AM

Had mine installed for over 2 weeks and put about 1,200 miles on it.

The vibration is only noticable when releasing the clutch to get the car moving.

When it was first installed, the first 100 miles, the vibration actually made my ear pop.
Now that it settled down, it's awesome.

Now I shift a lot smoother! especially with my JBarone SSP/SolidBushing and Jbarone Heavy Shift knob!

I just installed the SURE Torq R3 RMM today and man oh man does the shifting feel so much better. I feel like I'm actually getting more power down to the wheels. But yea, the vibration at idle is really noticeable. Sort of annoying (especially with the A/C on!!), but I hope that with some time, that will soften up a bit and there will be less vibrations. It's actually only really noticeable when I'm idle at a light. Once I get moving it's much more bearable.

This is the best explanation I've seen yet. Call me a pussy all day long, but the vibrations are definitely there...On the plus side, smoother shifting and less wheel hop

Care to explain this remark? Do you ever take your car to the track? Do you have some problem with those of us who race?

pinggoy 07-04-2011 04:05 PM

do i?:theyareontome:

So up your idle. I'm running the race mount with a BSD and have my base idle set to 1050 and AC idle just a hair higher at 1150; it's actually pretty tame even with the AC on. No rattles or anything like that and it hasn't seemed to mind the high idle for the past year I've had it set like that. Only have a couple hundred miles on the mount as well.

azokaei 07-10-2011 02:46 PM

I really need to purchase this motor mount! How long did the install take you?

Bucker 07-10-2011 03:20 PM

The install takes about 20 minutes depending on the jacks you have. Ramps are faster. When I do one I stick the stock jack between the motor and the subframe and use that to push them apart after unbolting the stock RMM.
