(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So my car is down, just sitting in my garage waiting on parts. Ecu is maryland, wheels are somewhere in the united states on a truck, catless tbe is in maryland....so im stuck without a car and extremly bored. After clay baring and waxing it lol, i decided to compltely remove the tranny mount to see just how bad the damage is.....O M F G...the thing was holding by threads. There is a cheap insert type thing on the bottom of the mount facing the ground...well that insert was dangling as it was completly ripped out of the mount. The only thing preventing it from falling out was the tranny bolt. There is a good 2 inches of play in the mount without that insert...explains why i wheelhoped and my engine does backflips with the 2 step/shift/launcing... After figuring out and matching up the tear marks i decided to epoxy and jb weld the fucken thing in there and it came out good. Ghetto, but i bet it does the trick untill a real solution is available. Cmon cpe!! lol Here are some pics from my bordem. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Those same holes are there on my new speed, my old speed, and all the other tranny mounts i have seen. One of yours does seem like it ripped more. DO other people not have these holes/rips on the side of the mount to begin with? Could it b e possible that they are just there to release some of the stress of the mount and allow for a smoother overall ride? I admit, I do not know what i am talking about, but all the mounts I have seen look like that. Anyone else remove their mount and not see these holes on the side of the mount? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score The holes are there from the factory, however mine was torn up a lil more then stock. The problem lies with the insert, mine wasnt instered as it tore itself out hence the reason i had so much engine movement. The epoxy is in all the gaps, once that cured the jbweld was put on top to fill remaining holes. Whats not shown is the lovly duct tape job that will prevent any of it from falling out. | Not Ranked : 0 score Okay, let me understand this mount. So please bare with me. The black outter housing is what I'll call the "frame". In the middle of the frame is an aluminum block that is supported by a rubber bushing on the frame. It basically floats within the frame. Around that is a rubber insert that somewhat keeps the aluminum block centered. And aborbs vibes. Is this correct so far? So all that is really supporting the tranny/engine is the rubber bushing surrounding the aluminum block?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Wow, that's scary. I wonder if you pack the rubber bushing and rubber insert with some kind of epoxy or rubber filler, that it'll help prevent the rubber bushing from tearing. Basically what you did. But without the JB weld. Could be something for people to do that don't have tears in them yet. Hopefully that one single bolt will hold up to the torture test.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I dunno but i cant wait to get my ecu back. I cannot move my engine for the life of me now. If you want to do a quick a easy test to see the shape of your mount do the following; Jack up the drivers side of the car, put the car in gear, try to move the front tire back and forth, if the engine moves alot, ure fucked. Mine wiggled ALOT, after i filled it I can't get it to move no matter how hard i try to spin the wheel |

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you do it over again, use some polyurethane. Comes in tubes from the local home repair store. Also known as construction adhesive, its flexible, very sticky so no need for duct tape and wont harden and crack. And if you heat it up in the sun or the oven till its warm it will flow quite well. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah man why not just buy another factory mount till a solution comes out. JB Weld isn't exactly structual stuff. I would make a metal strap around the mount if anything so if it fails the motor cant fall down too far at least. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score this is a good idea... there is room under the tranny mount to wrap a strap of metal or something around the mount. that MAY hold it up for a little bit, if you even realize that it broke... maybe wrap 20 coat hangers around it or something... lol |

| Not Ranked : 0 score we need a sturdier mount made, with a built in secondary safety to prevent this stuff from getting out of control. After seeing the factory mount dissected like that, I find it hard to believe there isn't a federal recall on this car. That stock mount is scary. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Chris you have the TRZ on there still? It can hold up the motor even with the side mount out or broken? I have the same mount so that would be a nice saftey feature. In the mean time I was going to make a little brace that bolts under the bolt head that would hold the motor up in the event that the rubber fails but, not if the bolt fails. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score the tranny mount is what you are taking out, not the rear mm, but yeah, the rear mm cannot support the engine and tranny, its only there for lateral movement..
