Which turbo mani? Im trying to save up for a turbo mani, and I know that the PG ones are backorder and not even available on the site anymore. Are these coming back? What about these other ones? Ive never seen anyone running them. Steedspeed MZR Turbo Manifold Stainless Steel MAZDASPEED Turbo Manifold |
Yea Im looking into the DNP one, they have pretty nice pieces on there site its a little expensive tho. I don't know much about them but here a link for there manifolds. Dn performance |
Im wondering if the MZR will allow for an EWG solution. Yeah that DNP is a pretty part I just would like to know how these stack against the PG part. |
DNP has thicker walls, better bracing, and zero fitment issues. nothing against PG but if u can get a used DNP its worth the money. |
if I were going to do a manifold it would be that steedspeed piece. those seem very well constructed. |
steed will have more flexibility for turbo upgrades/ewg. |
get a custom Manifold/dp for a t3/t4 turbo... :P lol |
the steedspeed is so expensive. We need a manifold with a external wastegate then well be set. |
considering steedspeeds comes with ceramic coating and all other options its really not that bad |
pg is doing a group buy for another mani that you haven't mentioned...i think http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...manifolds.html |

yeah, it appears that this group buy also includes the ability to add an ewg. get on this people, if i had the money, i would be on this shit as well |
Yeah im just nor sure if im going to have the loot in time for the PG. Quote:

They also look like they weigh a ton. Every peice i change on my car will have something to do with weight savings. But thats just me. |

trust me I'm psycho about weight savings( I'm the nut that replaced the billet oil cap with the cheap standard plastic one) but for a turbo manifold you don't want to skimp on strength, and tubular manifolds are infamous for cracking. plus the steedspeed is an innovative design with the way the runners are machined smooth in two halves then welded together I really like it |
PG manifold has a lifetime warranty on cracks I thought with the turbo so close to the block and hanging off its own bracket, im not sure we will get the same stresses that some other cars see also the pg manifold isnt some obx shit, it seems quality, although not as heavy gauged as the dnp |
PG is so so if you ask me. I have seen better welds and better clean up work on the runners elsewhere. DNP is nice. Both get the EWG tacked onto the side which is lame (I am sure it still works). There was some talk of the 3 not fitting the EWG mani the same as the 6. Steedspeed is very close to ready (protos getting coated and going out) and will allow 1)stock turbo 2) T3 turbo (presumable T3/T4 also) 3) EWG (thought limited to 38mm right now) 4)ceramic coated from the start. The Steed is more compact which could make the screamer pipe easier to make. Steed is more expensive but barely more than a PG, EWG'ed, ceramic coated manifold. |
when the external wastegate is put on from JM Fabrications they add extra welds to support the additional weight of the EWG and bigger turbos, They are just finishing up the first manifold for the speed 3 which should be done tomorrow and I was told I would get pictures when completed which I will post up when I get them. |
The PG gets the extra bracing as well. Thats a necessity not a selling point. |
Thats the manifold I was talking about. |

I'm not dissing the PG part I never even seen one, but who wants to have down time doing the job twice I would much rather get it right the first time |
Not a single one has yet that I know of. Ken is a good dude and stands by his stuff, thats what the warranty is all about. I remember him saying he dosn't think they will crack but people wanted a better warranty than DNP so he did it. |
