Any amount of VTA, I repeat ANY amount of VTA on a MAF engine like ours means air fuel mismatch. The fucking MAF sensor has already read the air mass and is sending a signal to the ECU based on the mass of air it expects to match up with fuel. VTA takes some of that air away. The ECU takes that signal and uses that to tell the injectors how much fuel to fire into the cylinders. When you take that already metered air and fart some of it into the air for giggles, your engine is being deprived of the oxygen that was metered and intended to be used for combustion. Screws up AFR's and causes a pig rich engine to run even more so. Even if you screw around with adjustments on the valve to smooth out the roughness, you're still losing oxygen that was supposed to be mixed with fuel, ignited and turned into power. Eventually the ECU will probably figure out that the mismatch is continuing and then it dials back the fuel to restore its programmed target AFR. So then you've lost both oxygen and fuel that would have been used to make more power. Does this sound like the way to make more power, or even the way to keep the power you already have? For gosh sakes, regardless of the valve your choose (I'm still with the stocker and loving the performance of that plastic mother), run the damn thing in full recirc -- nothing less, if you care about performance.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Just go back to stock. It is the best performer on this platform. Any hybrid or dual port is still going to be losing metered air to atmosphere when that metered air needs to go back into the engine. If you don't like stock, at least get one that runs full recirc and is known to hold boost reliably like the stock piece, such as the Forge gen 2 or the Turbosmart true replacement BPV.
