here it is...the loged in clips inside the retainers...

^^^^^^the one on the right is the bad retainers/clips...as u can see, the clips and the retainers have a space between them because the clips almost went through the retainer...

the one on the left is the one that came from my first cdi kit that failed...but i bent the retainers alil bit to close the gap between the retainer and the clips...this should prevent the clips from going through...atleast for a lil longer...hehehe...

i didn't get to take a picture of the shaft...but it had some scratches on it...i was thinking maybe it wasn't that big of deal and that the reason why the pressure was dropping was because of the bad clips until i went and tested them out...

in the beginning my idle pressure went up to 425...i was very happy!!! i drove a few miles...trying to look for a good place to run and made sure there weren't any cops...lolz...i did a couple of pulls again 3rd to 5th...then drove home...i noticed though that my idle went back down to 390-400...scratched my head...

welll pretty much, the logs were pretty good...the first run the pressure never dropped below 1500, but had knock up to 2.45...the 2nd run was the same thing as when my retainers failed...lowest pressure was 1360 for a sec...but no knock what so ever...

i think the stupid retainers have failed this kit...even though i kinda fixed the retainers, the damage was done...i think the scratches on the pistons have an effect on the pressure a lil bit and the failed retainers were the reason why the pistons got scratched up...but i don't know if this is 100% true...maybe the retainers that i have in the car now may have sunked in the retainers too...unfortunately i won't be able to take the damn pump again cuz i have to go soon...and tomorrow i have a wedding to go to...i will take it apart on monday...if the retainers failed, i will have to put the stockers back on

in the meantime...my pump is at 80%...i'll have to get some funds to get the kmd soon...

Were you using the HP spring or the standard spring?

update...retainers are still holding up but i can tell it's just a matter of time it's going to fail like the ones before...the shaft is scratched up and thats why i think my pressure isn't as high as it used to be...my idle would start from 350 then slowly go up to 400...i think i've held on to this kit as long as it can hold...im done with it, going back to stock then kmd's.

My CDI's failed after about 2k also. That was my 2nd set after the first failed almost immediately and part of the so called Good Batch. My pressure was dropping down to 600PSI at WOT! One day fine, next day fuel cut like crazy. One day Idle pressure (at like a red light) would drop to 390 and work up to 420 before the light changed. Next day 299 sitting in my driveway.

This all took place this past Friday. I had a 3 hour trip planned and had to cancel. Thus losing out on my Hotel Room as well and a weekend at the beach. Had a buddy come over yesterday and help me put back in my stock internals. The shaft was rubbed so bad that part of it looked like it was polished and had a mirror shine on it. I didn't check the retainer but I will when I get home tonight and see how it looks.

Sent a PM to Palerider and was told he can't help and to contact Ken. Contacted Ken got a canned E-mail saying CDI was out of business and that my only recourse was to get KDM internals. I'm not a happy camper to say the least $255 for first kit, $100 for Hotel Room, Missed Trip, Canned Reply and after it's all said and done I could have just purchased a CPE pump and been done with it.

I'm waiting on a reply from Ken now on my KDMs and who to send more money too. I don't agree at making the customer pay in this case. I don't care if CDI is out of business as I didn't buy the parts from them. An incorporated company has the recourse to get their loss back at the end of the year when filing their taxes. The customer has no recourse. However, it is not worth bitching about as I simply want my car to run right and I need internals. I simply want a set that works and I will be happy.

damn that sux...i know how u feel...i wish that they can refund us or something...but i wouldn't be surprise if they don't...i would just hate to spend another $250 for some kits that hasn't been long term tested...not trying to say the kmd's are going to fail...but no one really knows how long they can last...im still waiting to hear what Randy thinks about this whole thing..i know he wanted some of these to have atleast last a lil longer, as i thought they were going to, atleast for my set.

im going to order the kmd's as soon as i get the cash...i wish this hasn't happened at the time when i bought new rims..now im fucking broke hehehe...

hey Randy, u said u gonna overnight ship the kmds if i get them...i might need to get a set of itv22 spark plugs with that too...i'll let u know when i get the funds..

Heh, I went through 4 sets of the CDI internals before they were officially dumped (meaning i can do the whole swap in under 30m now . I also had to pay 120$ or somethin like that for the KMD internals. Shitty situation all around but now I'm confident in what I have in the ride. I've had the stockers in for over a month while I moved and didn't have time to swap em out, finally did last night and I didn't expect much since I was only doing it as a safety mod, but shifts and acceleration seem MUCH smoother on 'KMD v2' vs the stock internals or any of the CDI kits I had (2 of which worked well most of the time)

I also stuck with the stock spring, is anyone using that high rev on that came with the first CDI kits? I feel like anyone still with the CDIs is going to have them fail at some point.. why not just get it out of the way now, change over to the KMDs and have some peace of mind.
