FWIW, I'll share my experience with Medieval. I ordered a set of mounts that didn't get shipped as planned. One of their guys personally drove to by my house to drop them off. They also offered a discount on my next order. That's better service than I have received or expected from any other vendor I have worked with.

The metal ping sound is gone on the lurching, feels solid. The SU's rear mount will be reinstalled today, I will not wait for the weekend like previously stated and will check the tranny mount also later on today since I'm at work right now lol.
bio, what did you do different?

I also appreciate how quickly medieval has responded to the mount issue with both an immediate solution (new bushing) and a long term solution (new mount).

I'm curious to see how the new mount works out, but at the very least communication has been top notch so far.

Hey Medieval. Concerning the new bushing. Is that really safe with the tranny mount since it also uses the same durometer bushing? If this were to happen to your set of motor mounts, the engine would "only" move 1/4" right?

And how about all that play in your video? What's the situation with that now?

There is still play but alot less than before. Just checked it again today under load and it moves. Just got done trying to move the motor back into it original spot, it's gonna take alittle more work than I thought. I will have to try to move it on the weekend. Remove all but one of the four mounts, set the motor where I want and start there.
Removing the SU rear mount and trying to pry towards the passneger side didn't work, couldn't get enough leverage lol. I will have to do it at my friend's house/shop on the lift.

Well im disgusted that bullshit from 247 has reaped onto MSF. First and foremost, this is NOT M247, this is Mazdaspeed Forums, something M247 wished they could be. In saying that, im wondering why a vendor rep from that forum is causing problems on this forum? This naturi guy has pretty much outstayed his welcome here. Jeff i appreciate your intervention here. The point i want to make to everyone is i stay in communication with vendors here. We have a great relationship and talk frequently. This is very important as a site owner and a vendor to have this kind of relationship.

I received emails and pm's when i signed both Dark and Med up as vendors. What happened on other forums, stays there. At MSF, we do business differently here. Most of you know, M247 especially, will ban you just out of spite, so spreading drama about these guys getting banned here means nothing to me.

Med is working on this problem so allow this process to continue. Naturi is going to be seeing Neil once i finish the post.

If any mods want to clean this thread up, it would be appreciated. No sense in fucking up Bio's thread with bullshit. Thanks

mine failed over the course of a day it was not a violent failure.

I noticed some increased vibes but kinda shrugged it off. Slowly over the course of the day it got worse and worse and it was terrible the past week.... shaked pretty bad it was hard to see out of the mirrors if i wasnt below 2k rpm lol

Damn. You think because you had medieval's set that it saved the motor from preventing the motor from falling or shifting too far?

after the vibes got bad, I slow took the mounts off. A day after the bad vibes I took off the rear and tranny mount. put the stock tranny mount back in and the SU rear mount... droove around like this for the past half of the week or so. it hasnt gotten any worse or better (until i took this mount out obviously).

The motor did sit a little lower on the passenger side from the bushing failing, but basically the only thing that happeend was bad vibes from lots of metal on metal rubbing

Sorry for "interrogating" you. haha!

But everything bolted up fine with the stock pieces in place and no weird noises?

Clearly someone did not do their verification and testing. There is a HUGE difference between being able to throw a 3d drawing together and delivering a quality reliable part.

People have to understand that there are NO quality standards and guarantees from aftermarket suppliers. Some produce quality and some don't. This kind of bs doesn't cut it in my book because it takes just a little bit of brains and patience to not sell a part until it's been verified - especially a part as simple as a motor mount.

It's good to own up to mistakes but it's 1000 times better to not make them in the first place. Good thing these aren't brake kits.

I agree with you to some point. If we were to shitlist every company that fucks up, we wouldn't have any suppliers of aftermarket products...

As far as I recall, CP-e had the motormount problem, Streetunit had the motormount problem, cobb had the sri bracket problem, now medieval had the motormount/passenger mount problem, turboxs had the flex-pipe problem on the downpipes...

Things got revised and no more problems, things will get revised with medieval and i'm sure it will not happen again.

I know in the Ford afrermarket, things are tested long before they are ever sold. Most of the aftermarket races the ford's they build parts for and see failures before they ever make it to mass production for consumers.

People gave Cobb a lot of shit to this approach. It did catch up to them in todays market by not having parts readily available. They did test everything on their race car before mass market production.

lolz at vendors. can't we all just get along?!?!?

i've purchased from SU --> good experience
i've purchased from PG --> good experience except came to the wrong address (billing vs shipping)

aaaand more recently purchased from Medieval/Darkstar --> good experience except for the rear motor mount being a 20-min swap.. yea right! little hiccups turned it into an hour job, including awhile to get the mm into place. the bushings are a VERY tight fit and require a lot of shoving to get into place. that said, the build quality looked good and i'm happy with the results.

about the bushings - any risk of bushing damage given that it took a lot of elbow grease to get it in? i put some water on the top and bottom surfaces as 'lube' b/c i didn't want to use oil/WD-40. this may be a stupid question although i'm a bit more concerned about bushings now.

I cleaned this thread. It was hard to concentrate on the issue at hand with the off topic bickering.

Fuck outta here with this random company fanboy shit. All of you need to quit it. If I gotta keep moderating this thread I'm just gonna start handing out infractions untill the problem goes away.

DO NOT COME INTO BIO'S THREAD JUST TO REP ANOTHER COMPANY!

This will be a common problem with smaller companies makings parts. They just don't have the tools and resources to test things like larger companies. Ex. Cp-e used an imaging tool to make a 3d cad image of the engine bay so they could design their mount and get the angles EXACT. For a product like that you will pay more and wait longer but it won't break.

I dunno, didn't even cp-e put bushings in their rear mm the first time that were potentially too soft?

Seem's like almost every company has made the same mistake at some point, using bushings that were too soft for the applilcation.

To me, its not so much the bushing as it is the orientation. You are putting axial and torsional stress on a bushing that is designed only to bear axial stress.

The bushing is oriented for back and forth not up and down and back and forth (when the engine rocks)

Wrong, we guarantee all our products and even offer voluntary recall's. With our first mount we verified that it worked and it continues to work on others cars with out any problems, but we did the redesign because we had a horrible failure rate on the bushing. Now that we have the new drivers side mount out there (not pretty due to the rush to get them done) we have not had one single issue with them. Our rear mount has not had one single complaint other then vibes, just like every other rear mount.

We strive to meet the quality standards of the consumer, but from time to time we try to build something better. Well that bit us in the arse with the drivers side mount and delivered on a tried and true design.

This is why it has taken so long to get our parts on the market, we like having 8 to 10 different testers running our parts hard before we market them. This is what delayed our pumps from getting to the market. The parts have to be tested and tested hard on this car, there seems to be a lack of testers due to the lower power out put from the motor and turbo options out there that pop the motor so easy (thanks Mazda).

We have a full warranty on all our parts, this is for MFG and build... not abuse.

I hope that this clears up any of the PTP mount comments that have been made in this thread and shows that we are commited to you the customer.

Thanks,

John with PTP.
