They're catering to an audience that doesn't want insane vibes. I'm sure it was easy for another company to simply put super hard bushings in their mount. Obviously, a softer mount brings some kind of failure in the equation. Some are willing to have something sportier while nothing race like. I think Medieval's mounts are for those people.

I wouldn't be surprised since they say they use the "hot pour" urethane on all their mount descriptions. Pretty safe bet I think.

Yeah, they fucked up and bio's car may or may not be damaged. I recall them saying they're willing to send out new bushings(for what seems to be a bushing failure) and have said it was a their mistake. Medieval's doing what they can to remedy this problem and I don't see how a bushing failure could label them as uneducated?

Even though I have the medieval mounts coming to my house, I DO question whether the mount will fail or not. It DOES worry me and I'm voicing this opinion publicly. I'm on the fence right now as to whether or not I want to install them. They are sending me the new bushings for the passenger mount.

Hey Medieval, if I want to upgrade the bushings for the other mounts, to absolutely make sure there won't be a bushing failure, could I replace the bushing material on the other mounts?

hey guys, I noticed mine is starting to tear just like everybody else...what is the worse case scenario if the bushing material completely falls off? i'm guessing the mount will still stay in place via bolt and nut....but it will sound horrendously loud....what do you think?

medieval, when is the ETA for the new mount? i'm not looking for the bushing upgrading...I'm looking for the new mount itself...I'll just keep my car in the garage and install the new mount all in one shot...instead of putting the upgraded bushing in...and installing another whole mount later

Medieval's new design is similar to that, but will be more functional.

I understand your feelings. We have sold over 300 speed 3 mounts. We now have 3 side motor mount failures. No rear failures and no transmission failures. Did your side fail? The minute we found out about the side was failing we redesigned it right away and are now replacing them.

Yeah I know the feeling. I had the pt-performance tranny mount and my bushing failed.

So I went with both medieval side mounts instead, and then the bushing in my passenger mount failed too.

Any reason you're orienting the bushing the way you are now medieval? Why wouldn't you orient it the same direction as youre tranny side mount?

+1

any reason? looks like all other side mounts are in the same direction (bushing mounted so that that bolt through it would be in a front-back of the car orientation, if that makes sense)

also to quote cp-e.......

This is how the factory mounts work, so ours follow the same recipe.

How can you redesign a mount so quickly? I don't want you guys to rush for the sake of fulfilling orders. I'd be content with the time taking to redesign the mount if it performs well.

I do remember reading, not sure if in this thread, that you had a previous mount design. Is the mount pictured above that previous design?

You are correct. This was the original design. There are 3 of us here at Medieval that make decisions. I was out voted and the passenger side moutn was released. Now, we are going to what was originally suppose to be released.

medieval,

do you have an answer or any comments regarding broncoblitz's and my comments about the orientation of the bushing?

The new design looks bas ass!
Seriously medieval jumped outta his ass on this motor mount issue. He accepted it, fix it and didn't turn his back on the problem. With in a day, he was working hard to fix the problem, the right way. He warranted all of his products and religiously stood behind them. Every company that has made mounts has had some kind of failure. Even mazda itself had messed up on the mounts...whats that say?
And on another note with over 300 mounts out and a hand full of failure. Half of those were install errors. The math comes out be less than 1%!
My personal opinion is that Medieval could not be doing a better job handling this. Dont let the parrot effect exacerbate the issue.

Every company does things what they feel is the right way (just ask them). Some say follow OEM design while others think outside the box.
We orientated the bushings the way we have for load and NVH (Noise, vibration and harshness) control. One must remember the idea behind solid motor mounts is to limit movement of the motor in an attempt to put the power to the ground with little to no wheel hop. We go about it a little different. Movement and NVH play a roll for us.
Some have said you can not have both. It is one or the other. We do not believe in this theory and are offering both. 99% of all motor mount sales are for daily driven applications and we felt vibration control and movement need to go hand in hand. The way the transmission mount is loaded we opted for the way our orientation is to offer the right weight distribution across the mount, NVH and movement.
The passenger side mount was also designed the same way, but with a for/aft orientation for less movement.
When people start installing their new side mount next week the reviews should come in and a first hand opinion will be made.

If I have the Old design passenger mount never installed, I will receive the new version for replacement free of charge with label to mail back the old mount correct?

My concern isn't next week though, it's two weeks, two months, two years from now.

The fore-aft orientation seems to put a lot of stress at the ends of the bushing where the bushing material is the thinnest. I know nvh is one thing you guys are looking at but what about long-term durability?

yeah I had ptp and it failed...I installed revised version and it was fucking pain in the ass!! bolt didnt fiit because of powdercoating.....than i could put a nut there because there is no fucking space in betwwen mount and body... I had to tape nut to the
key so it wont fall down....and I still have wheel hoop that I didnt have it with both stock side mounts and with su rear.....if its gona fail again I will put stock mounts back.... If something is done right it wont fail...

Most of the stress is put on the lower half of the bushing. The side mounts are weight baring mounts. As for long term, this design was run through Pro E (FEA) to ensure longivity,
If we were to have put the mount bushing side to side, the load would have now been uneven and mainly placed on the inside bushing.

The turn-around timeframe is still pretty damn good considering how large of a recall this is..

I'm still waiting T_T

I'm not sure If I'm getting the old pmm with new bushing then have to return it, or if I'm getting the new one.
