Valve cover oil leak

I've search this forum and can't find this simple question, does the valve cover come off this car with just removing the bolts, I tried and failed due to the fact that it got caught up by the fuel pump. I have to replace the gasket because it's leaking, I hope I don't have to remove the fuel pump just to change a simple gasket.

Yes, just take off the bolts. You don't have to remove the fuel pump.

afaik, hpfp needs to come off.

Nope, not for the valve cover. Just changed the gasket on mine 2 weeks ago and didn't touch the hpfp.

"fuel pump" typically refers to the pump in your gas tank. Hpfp refers to the cam driven high pressure fuel pump.

Thanks, do you have to shimmy the cover off, pry it out, it didn't want to come off.

Amnesiac 04-12-2014 09:35 PM

I did have to pry it up
