jimmy mac, how loud was the tick tick tick you heard? You mentioned in the other thread it was embarrassing at a stop light? Was it really that loud? When i listen to my engine closely i can kinda hear something similar.

I think i'm gonna pull off the pan to take a look, and prob delete balance shaft while i'm in there.

You sure you're not hearing our noisy injectors?

I think he is hearing the pump itself over the injectors. I have to take a look at it asap. I've notice that once I went FMIC, the pump is a lot louder or easier to hear and I think he is hearing the same now.

I didn't record my sound because there is another post or link somewhere on this site that has a vid that sounds just like mine. I'll have to find it and link to it. But if you read my other thread about tapping a quarter on your hood.... sounds just like that. Or if you ever spun a rod bearing... sounds like that. I'm out of state right now. So it'll take away. Not unless if someone else can post it. I think it was MS3Guy22 who posted it.

If you had a bent rod or spun bearing, it'd be blatantly obvious that there is something wrong and you wouldn't have to "listen closely" to "kinda hear something". It sounds like someone is tapping on your hood with a screwdriver. It's loud and varies with engine speed. Here's a Youtube of an MS6 with a bent rod:

That is what I was looking for as well and look at how clean the bottom of his piston is. I would really like to see the piston if he has the motor apart yet. Would be nice to see if the ring lands cracked or anything.

Jimmy thanks for the great pictures, nice camera.

Well, just got back in town. Not sure when I can pull the head. But I may try this weekend. If so, I'll update the pics.

I took that video, Eloi's car is still at the dealer and they still dont know what the problem is. They have a Mazda tech on the way to determine whether they are going to warranty it or not. It is probably going to end up being an engine replacement because they haven't figured it out yet.
