Water Wetter

Anyone use Redline Water Wetter on the MS3 yet? Or the DEI Radiator Relief?

Haltech 07-10-2008 08:30 PM

First thing i did. I put in a bottle in a half. Didnt notice a temp diff to be honest but i also dont live in a high heat climate like AZ or TX.

I used it before, but you gotta use more than that. Mixing with ANTI-freeze and water, you'll see minimal drops. You need to drain the whole system and 50% WW and 50% Water to get close to the 30 degree drop bar. LOL, that is alot of bottles.
Cheapest I've found it needs a big order of it. Anyone want some?

They dont make the crystal pellets anymore, but that was the most concentrated version of it. You would boil a pot of distilled water, add the pellets and cook it. Sort of like, crystal meth! Than strain it. But you're right, you need to run it with only water to see the benefits of a 30 degree drop.

Brewing your own $heet eh? LOL.

$8.08 a bottle then add shipping, is the cheapest I could find.

7.9qt coolant hmmmmm.....

3.95qt of distilled water and about 10.53 bottles of water wetter lmfao, that's lot hahaha.

I picked mine up localled for $6.50 a bottle at a store here. I bought 2, added 1.5 bottles and left it as is. But yea, you will go broke quickly refilling the coolant in your car with it after flushing it. Its still not as bad as filling an automatic trans with synthetic tranny fluid.

When the shop swapped out my turbo they put in a bottle of the Royal purple equivalent... haven't noticed a difference in daily driving, but I'm told that i'll notice a difference when beating on it at the track.

Water Wetter is worth it's weight in gold if you are going to run your motors VERY hard for long periods of time!!!!! I use it religiously in my race bikes and lemme tell ya, you ain't felt heat till you've wrapped your legs TIGHT around a 158rwhp Ducati with a radiator the size of a cereal box for 2 hrs!! With 40/60 distilled water & anti frz the temps swung back & forth between 190 & 230 but with WW I have never seen it go over 190 and the only time it even hits 190 is when I bring it into the pits! I mix it 2oz to 1.75 gal distl water. If it's mixed with anti frz it's effects are severely reduced! That isn't a prob since anti frz is banned on the track. 1 bottle is in my sp6 and I've never seen the temp move from just a hair below 1/2 and I live in HELL'S ARMPIT!!! (Houston). Even in the I45 6 lane parking lot or after spirited track sessions @ Texas World Speedway! In my experience with my bikes and being around race cars of ALL vintages & sizes for years, you shouldn't need more then 1 bottle for ANY automotive application. BUT!! You guys up in the frozen north should keep your anti frz as insurance!

The needle doesnt move even if you hit 230 degrees. Dashhawk will show the correct temps however.

Haltech, nice forum, my first post here.

General question: does water wetter lower freezing points at all, or is antifreeze the only thing that does that?

Haltech 07-11-2008 10:44 AM

Thanks... Well its got some stuff in it if you ran it straight to prevent freezing but i dont recommend it. I run it mixed with water in my lightning with no coolant in both the radiator and intercooler... Its been this way for 5 years and no isses.

coolant actually sucks for heat transfer.

HHmmmm. Interesting about the temp gauge. But I have a "HALTECH" (yes!) digital dash on my Ducati 955 AMA Superbike and I KNOW it's accurate from testing it in temp bathes. Is the inaccuracy in the gauge or the sender? Curious the DH would read such a swing but the gauge doesn't move. Does the ECU have a different sensor?
Yes, WW does have some freeze protection but I wouldn't trust it for more then a couple of degrees. Remember, We think 60F is freakin freezing down here!!
