Default Wha.......da fauk

So I've been driving my car the past couple of days and noticed it was making some weird noises (my cars front end as always made weird noises, pass. side strut mount, messed up crossmember bushings, whatever.) When taking off and shifting kind of hard I noticed it making the noise from 2nd-5th. After driving from Mokena, IL to Northwest, IN I popped the hood at the gas station, and HEY MY FUGGIN MOTOR IS SAGGING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I looked down and both passenger side mount bolts are snapped off.

So my question is how hard is it to remove the lower passenger side mount (connected to the motor not the car) I'm assuming it's sum gay shit involving me taking off the valve cover, timing cover, etc.) Thanks in advance.......

Naw, it's pretty easy to get it out. You'll need a jack and a pair of jack stands, tho. And, you'll need a new pair of mounting bolts at least, but I don't know the size. The hardest bit might be getting the nuts off the broken bolts to reuse. If you're very nice to Jamie Barone (e.g. buy one of his PMMs to make it worth his while), he might help you out.

I'm shocked that the bolts would shear off before the mount failed. Or, did the mount fail, too? Stock mount, I assume?

Man I've never seen the stds break. I beleive replacement bolts are 12mm x 1.25 x 30mm; I would verify that firs.The studs from the dealer are like $17.00 each so go with bolts and get a high grade of bolt as well and one of my passenger mounts would be strongly recommended.

I'd like to see pics if you have time.

Sure I will post pics. This most have been a problem for awhile and the torque inventually caused them to snap. I really don't know how the hell this happened. So much for case hardened bolts.

The mount on your side is pretty sweet unfortunately the studs are stuck on the engine side mount which looks like the mount is 1 piece with the timing cover.

Stock mount and it didn't fail the bolts just sheared off. It's fuckin weird. The previous owner must have never tightened them, or when I removed the trans and driver and let the passenger hang it got loose somehow? I never touched it and assumed it was locktited from the factory. FML

NO sir just a nice clean separation in the bottom mount. When I get the timing cover off (fucking crank pulley is a dirty slut) I'm going to take it to a machine shop it's the only way.

Man that was fun having to remove the crank pulley and all the other shit in the way to remove the timing cover, what is that thing torque to 200lbs. The engineers at Mazda can suck my taint for designing the fucking motor mount and timing cover together as one piece.

look in the FSM at the torque specs. After torquing the damn thing down, i had to use a 4' breaker bar to turn the bolt more as called for.

$17 is a bit steep. I got these 2 bolts & nuts from Rosenthal Mazda for $12 (total) shipped. Obviously still not the cheapest, but was OEM; as I was having the damnedest time finding the correct sized bolt.
