Just bought a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 and was wondering what kind of intake was on it , pictures uploaded.

Thanks.

A filthy ass one.

Kidding aside, looks like Cobb.

Thats a COBB Tuning intake

Logo says it all and as far as I know they are the only ones that use that MAF housing/air straightener combo.

lol, I know I know the intake is dirty, have to get a replacement cobb filter. Thanks guys, I had a feeling it was a cobb just because of the blue but the logo seemed weird to me and it didnt say cobb anywhere.

phillyb hates me! 10-26-2015 06:57 PM

You may wanna try cleaning the filter before you purchase a new one.

Yes it will work. The COBB filter needs to be oiled, so make sure to do that after cleaning.

I can see why you may think that. Really I'm just attempting to pass along some basic information to the OP. We don't have any background on him, and most of us are unsure of his wrenching capabilities. There are a variety of filters on the market, from those that are dry-flow to brands that need to be oiled. The OP could search and find out this information, but I figured I would try and help him out.

No, the cobb filter is an oiled-type like the K&N. AEMs are dry flow (corksport, JBR, HTP etc...)

MSMS3 10-27-2015 09:06 PM

Get a K&N recharge kit and follow the instructions. Begin by cleaning the way they recommend.

I thought a oil filter would get oil on the maf and cause issues

It does if you add too much oil.

I'm not saying I recommend them, just that they do exist on this platform.

Restrain yourself from over oiling, the shit does not need to be dunked in oil. Just coated.
