What's that oval thing.. in front of the radiator? Hey guys, I had a little fitment issue with my bigger core for my CXRacing FMIC. 1 Being that I had to cut a few plastic on the bumper (pushing against the core) 2nd being is that cooler of some sort in front of the radiator. Can someone tell me what does that thing cool? And is it replaceable by a transmission cooler or an universal radiator cooler of some sort? If not, I'm probably gonna extend my bracket by about 2 inches toward the front bumper.. Hopefully it'll clear the core. =\ any help would be great! Thanks. Here's a few pic (removed the brackets and ziptied it closer to the radiator to clear the core or keep the core from pushing against it.. i know it's ghetto, but it's my temporary fix for now) http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...zed/IMG489.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...zed/IMG490.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...zed/IMG491.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...zed/IMG493.jpg Core size is 28x8x3.5 |
Don't quote me because I've only ever seen anyone talk about the speed6 one, and that's in a different spot, but I think it the power steering cooler, and yes, it's re-routable and replaceable with an upgraded cooler. |
It's power steering. It can be moved but be VERY careful |

When in doubt, trace the lines. |
google for the cobb fmic instructions. zip ties? psh, those won't last long for that. |
Replace zip ties PRN |
Thanks for the info, I'm just gonna swap that for an universal radiator. If not, I'm just gonna go to my friend and tell him to make me some custom brackets to place that thing else where. Other then that, i like this new core, 30 degrees above ambient cruising, and 18-20 above ambient WOT. Compared to the 2.5'' thickness one, which was 50 above ambient cruising and 35-40 wot. |
I'm 30 over ambient cruising and 10-15 at wot with the stock tmic |

X2 on P/S cooler. Also, if you plan on keeping it mounted that way for long, put rubber isolators between the metal cooler and anywhere it can touch surrounding metal (radiator, brackets, etc). You don't want to wear a hole in that or your rad. |
