1982xx today. Original Motor, no smoke yet, original transmission but 3rd gear synchro was replaced in it (Don't think PO did the clutch though). Definitely need to look into bushings/body mounts, this thing rattles and clunks in the back end like crazy on these NOLA roads.

Nola is hard on the suspension.

Yeah, I'm worried my SSR IIIs will be done in by some of the small lakes (potholes) here. If I don't know the road real well, bet your ass I'm doing the speed limit. Already had a curb trash my bumper as I was trying to leave Rouses....

Hit 199,870 coming back from TX today. Getting close to the big 200k.

Balthazar 11-28-2015 06:37 AM

Won't be beating anyone here, 90k but turbo replaced around 60k, warrantied at least.

WillP 11-29-2015 04:09 PM

For all of you high mileage speeds what oil are you guys using? I purchased my speed6 with 54K not sure what they used before but I started with Rotella. I switched to Amsoil for two changes then back to rotella. I just rolled over 100K and I know keeping the oil levels where they need to be helps with longevity of engines. Also, regular 3-4K oil changes helps from what I am reading. Please share.

KennyFish 11-29-2015 04:40 PM

I'm at 99k on my '10 cat less dp the last 10k turbo is close to its last leg. I run t6 but even that isn't keeping the white smoke at bay anymore. Time for a corksport

Mobil 1 high mileage. Anything over 100k gets it. Anything under gets the regular full synthetic stuff.

Only vehicle that doesn't is the GFs VW. It's gotta have special oil because, Germany.

Stupid Krauss.

TinyVoices 12-09-2015 04:20 PM

I'm at 105k on the stock turbo and motor. No smoke at all and burns less than a quart every 5k miles.

I keep using Castrol Syntec 530. If it's not leaking, keep using synthetic. If you see any leaks, use the high mileage.

I'm also at 115k on original turbo

I use Rotella t6. My car burns less than a quart every 5k miles.

BackRoads 12-09-2015 08:14 PM

I have been using just your basic oil for 217,500 miles and am burning a quart about every 3,500 miles, self-tuned until 188,000 miles and now pushing 25+ lbs of boost since then.

What basic oil are you using?

I had the dealership do my oil changes up to about 175k or so - they commonly gave me a free loaner, so it was convenient. I have purchased several cars from them, so they treat me well. So, whatever they put in.

Since then, I have my friend here in my small town do it, since his shop is just a few blocks away and he's a great guy. So, whatever he puts in.

I have like three jobs, so it is worth the time I save.

I did replace my turbo (with a BNR) at 188k, but it never smoked.

BackRoads 01-22-2016 01:24 PM

Crossed 220k this morning. Rock solid.

Wow

IT Gnome 01-23-2016 06:30 AM

I crossed 211k 2 mornings ago. My engine has started burning oil real bad lately about a quart every 1k miles. Looks like I'm going to need to do some major engine work.
I've been using Castrol Syntec 10w-40 every 5k miles since the dealership replaced the turbo under warranty at 60k. That's what they used then and I've kept it up since.

blackms3_71 01-23-2016 07:17 AM

Try adding lucas stabilizer. It helps

NRBt 01-23-2016 07:23 AM

196000km's for now.
Using original Mazda Dexelia 5w30 oil.

My Speed6 died this weekend. Went out to run some errands and then tried to start it. It wouldn't start. I got towed to a nearby mechanic. He looked at and found cylinders 1,3, & 4 have only 35lbs compression and #2 has 85lbs. No indications other than the spike in oil consumption.

Anyone have a motor for cheap? I hate that I will have to give up on my Speed6. I love the car too much. This has been the first time ever in a 212K miles that it wouldn't start.

This is a very sad time right now.

That's what I'm using and have been for over 100k.

I've used motul, royal purp, castrol and they all "caused" my motor to burn more oil. Royal was heinous in my block, added a quart every 2000km. Switched to Mazda synthetic due to Dale Gribbles thread.

spatton 07-23-2016 11:04 AM

2012 with 150,000, many new engine mounts and a couple of clutches. Still does not consume oil.

jmen73 08-02-2016 02:20 PM

I had 193k on mine before I blew a valve. Now it's rebuilt with a much larger turbo...5858.

artfuldriver 08-08-2016 09:17 PM

2008 MS3- 140K- No smoke yet but there is a hesitation when under full throttle.

BackRoads 08-08-2016 09:20 PM

Is it time for new plugs? That made an immense difference for me. Also used the AC Delvo top end cleaner. I was shocked at the difference.

artfuldriver 08-08-2016 09:25 PM

Maybe time for new plugs but I replaced at 85K. Funny thing is I am not throwing any CEL !

BackRoads 08-08-2016 09:26 PM

My bad plugs didn't throw a CEL. But they were sure ugly when I pulled them out. Might also be carbon buildup though, or a coil.

Need compression numbers for science! That is insane.

BackRoads 08-09-2016 06:00 AM

I need to check compression again. Here's what I know. Way early last spring, I was noticing the car coughing at WOT. Got worried, figured engine was finally getting worn out. Compression check was not great, ranging from about 125 to 145 or so. Mazda specs say 128 and up is ok, with max of 20 difference between cylinders. Then I put in new plugs and did the top end cleaner. Cough went away, runs great. Haven't checked compression again, but oil use diminished a bit, and I recently got 26.5 mpg on a tank running E30 with an aggressive tune. At 70F or below, I commonly break traction when I downshift into 3rd and go WOT (not popping the clutch). Currently getting close to 232,000 miles. Who can ask for more?

Jdab 08-09-2016 06:35 AM

About to hit 138k, car runs great, no oil consumption, no motor complaints overall. The clutch/flywheel setup supposedly changed by the PO at 115k really sucks. Could be something else but it feels really ambiguous and engages oddly. Not sure how to describe it.

Mazda recommends replacing the spark plugs in these cars at every 60k miles/90k kms. That if you're using the OEMs which are basically NGK ILTR6A-8G. However, 30k miles/45k kms was poven to be the efficiency limit (past that the engine will not run great).

So basically you replaced the factory plugs at 85k, 25k over, and now you're almost due according to mazda (because you're actually 25k miles late) and you're talking like you replaced them yesterday while complaining about hesitation and ruling out the plugs just because you "just replaced" them 450 years ago :)
Dude... replace your plugs :) 25k miles ago :)

desertbound1024 08-21-2016 05:20 PM

2007 MS3 with 155k. Stock everything except plugs. Burns a quart of oil per 1000 miles and timing chain is loose. Compression is 180, 179, 180, 179.

Have you tried a top end cleaner? With those compression numbers, it might just be some valve buildup that is consuming oil.

Orangatang 08-21-2016 05:36 PM

Stock motor, trans, clutch, flywheel and turbo at 190,339

just hit 180K 2007 MS3. 3rd owner. Runs. Low compression on cylinder 3. 2nd owner replaced turbo and clutch.
Planning to rebuild next year.

Thank you. I am the third owner on my ms3. All current mods in sig is what I did to the car. The last 20k or so I have been 2gal e85 tuned pushing 19psi.
Basic maintenance, paying attention of rpm when boosting and rev matching when I need a higher gear. Most of my current driving is commute driving. T6(3-4k oci) oil for about the last 30k or so. Thinking about switching to the pp euro(5w-40) and trying that out. I just put on some bfgoodrich sport comp 2 a/s.

I want to do a valve cleaning soon since I don't think it has ever been done and throw in a new pcv valve while I am there.
