Would the Valvoline Limited Engine Guarantee cover us for a bent rod? I was just thinking about the Valvoline Limited Engine Guarantee and how some users are having bent rods. If we were to use this oil and bend a rod and thereby blowing the engine, would this thing cover us if our warranty didn't? It looks like it doesn't cover modded cars, but if you wanted to throw it back to stock it's not like they could know. I was just thinking it would be nice to have yet another layer of protection. And the SynPower (especially SynPower MST!!) gets great UOA's over on BITOG so it's not like we have to step down in oil quality. They also cover your car for 300,000 miles. Pretty impressive. |
It's been asked on other forums I'm on, and the consensus is no, it most likely won't cover a blown engine without 100% irrefutable proof, 3 signed affidavits and a left lung that the oil is what caused the engine to blow up. |
NO. A bent rod is not a lubrication issue, I seriously doubt they will even cover failures that could be caused buy poor oiling.. |
So it's just a marketing ploy? That sucks. I hate that crap. Quick-Trip did that too back in the 90's and it made them huge, with their "Guaranteed Gas" where if their gas caused an engine problem they would pay for it. You had to jump through hoops though and would need a certified mechanic shop to say it caused it. The thing is, no shops are going to out and out say for sure that gasoline caused some major problem. But that "guaranteed gas" ad campaign works like you wouldn't believe. I hear people all the time say "make sure you put QT gas in it b/c it's guaranteed". lol |
Dude, your FACTORY warranty is a marketing ploy. You don't buy a car because it has a warranty, you buy it because it's a good car, hopefully. The warranty is just there to make you feel better about signing on the dotted line. That's true of any warranty. If you need it, they'll find every possible way to loophole themselves out of paying up because that's cheaper than giving you a new engine. |
I sell valvoline oil and that 'engine guarantee' is a complete bunch of bullshit, theres like a 2pg thing of fine print that comes with it. You have to have every maintenance item documented with receipts and workorders and has to be done on mileage intervals and blah blah blah blah |
