Z-MAX???

Does anyone use Z-Max or any other additive with their engine oil (or any where else....trans etc)? Any reason to use additives or not to use on MS3?

Have had many cars and never used it. Ive had no engine failures due to not using it so I would say no. I think proper oil change intervals and using a good synthetic oil is good enough.

I always go Royal Purple so no need for it =)

I use it. Put it is twice now did it the first oil change on my car and like the 3rd one after that so far.. IDK if it does all its claimed to be there was a big law suite on the stuff a while back. actually I started a tread asking the same thing a while back search it and you will probably find the links ppl posted about the law suite and a lot of ppl call it "snake oil" HOWEVER i still use it and plan to keep using it if nothing else it gives me peace of mind thinking im doin a good job taking care of my car

the commercial with carol shelby hawking this crap makes me sad. the guy is nearly on his death bed lying about how he puts that shit in all of his engines. I guess that he already knows he is already going to hell, and might as well milk this world for every last nickle he can

just seafoam it and keep it clean. And use a good synthetic oil. Your engine will last 200k miles as long as the zoom-zoom-boom fairy doesn't gitcha.

hahahah 200k miles.... i dont see that happening w/o a rebuild on this one kurt. we will try our best to get there though

What do you think the highest mileage cx-7 is? I bet its up there.

rodrigo 09-24-2009 08:58 AM

i hardly think cx7 s get driven and abused like ms3s. how you drive a car dictates alot into how long it lasts.....

with the transmission you may need to use a friction modifier for the lsd depending on brand used. normally just say no to additives. the oil manufactures spend time figuring out what they want in their oil you can screw up things by having too much of a certain element. use a quality syn oil. search on this forum for many recommended brands/weights. change it regularly.

the only "problem" with oil manufactures is that they have to abide by guidelines that are getting more and more strict, take zinc for an example....its being removed from alot of motor oils (still in alot of heavy duty/deisel oils)....they are doing this so that they meet epa guidelines of helping a catalytic converter last longer. Zinc coats metal parts and helps in high stress/friction areas like cams and cyliner bores.

I have a bottle of Z-Max. However the conditions have never been right to use it. Must be a full moon, northeastern wind @ 2 MPH, cherry blossoms must bet out, raining with 20% humidity and of special note it only works with JP-7

And it good for athletes foot, jock itch, ED issues, toothache and other ailments and Obama uses it....... need I say more

Paint prep......

My shredder likes it
