Knock Knock! Last month I installed my AEM meth kit (running alky). I tried to use the test button but it would not go in. The kit has been working properly until today. I used my Thanksgiving break to install my GT2871. The install went smooth and I was able to take the car out for a run last night. http://i316.photobucket.com/albums/m...m/IMG_1191.jpg http://i316.photobucket.com/albums/m...m/IMG_1194.jpg http://i316.photobucket.com/albums/m...m/IMG_1183.jpg Boost was staying at 18psi and I would see no more than a 18.9psi spike. AFRs were not lean, and actually pretty close to where I want them to be. Today I was supposed to drive my wife to Hagerstown and on the way I stopped to check my fluid levels (5 miles after I left). Coolant was a little low so I added more then drove another 10 miles. I stopped to check it again while I left my car running and the coolant level was still good. I got back into my car to continue our travel. I start to accel (no more than 1300 rpm) and the car stalls. I try to crank the car and I hear a KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. Then my alky injection level light pops on. I open the hood and hear my alky pump running so I pull one my power source from its QD. I am now able to smell the alky and it was forming a puddle on the ground dripping from one of my couplers. I will be pulling off the oil pan today to get a look at my rods. I think that I may have a bent rod or 2. I know for a fact I wasn't in boost at 1300 rpm. My theory is that that the meth controller switched on the pump (probably from the test button) and when I started to accel the alky when into the combustion chamber and caused it to hydrolock. Or it may have just caused it to stall and the hydrolock was caused when I tried to restart it. Not too sure. Has anyone heard of a similar case? |
in for info on meth and im interested.... hope everything works out. |
Retard Retard who? |
Sorry dude, that sucks. AEM meth controllers are shit, and I could easily see that little test button getting stuck. I went through 2 failed AEM controllers before moving onto a snow controller, which as been working great. |

Pulled off the oil pan. To my suprize there were no bent rods. I needed to check since it could've caused more damage if I didn't before further testing. Going to put it back together and see if the knock is still there with all of the alky out of the system. Any ideas? |
